I don't think anyone ordered those inexpensive TREDs (did they cut corners somewhere - is it definitely the real thing?) but I'd love to see a review somewhere.
This is how I mounted my X-BULL tracks - the roof rack is made from 80/20 extruded aluminum. The existing holes in the X-BULL tracks...
Much like "drive with what you've got", "shoot with what you've got"! I'd say camera tech of the last 4 years has more or less plateaued (unless you consider the 645 format Fuji, Leica, and Hassy have pushed as the next step up from full-frame). I like the Sony cameras because they're so easy to...
Interesting take, and good point. Perhaps the chart means nylon is stiff, but not brittle? It resists bending, but won't necessarily break if bent within a certain threshold? Another way to think of it would be, like fibre-optics, you can bend nylon fibres in your hand because the bend radius...
Thanks! It's a Sony A7R (the older, first version) that's been converted to full spectrum by Kolarivision. These were indeed shot in IR (specifically 680nm). I used to have a Leica iiic, but never a digital Leica M... other things to pay for. Nice cameras, not so nice on the wallet!
Thank you! Really enjoying the IR camera conversion - when I shoot professionally, it's mostly on large or medium format film, but the IR conversion lets me do stuff with digital I can't all that easily with film - it adds a unique tool to the toolbox. :)
More of a "what did you do with your rig yesterday", but nevertheless... Took the Subaru out for the first real trip of the season; traveling throughout Ontario and Quebec. I spent most of my time along the Ottawa Valley overland route, which can be found on graveltravel.ca. I am honestly, very...
Took the Subaru out for the first real trip of the season; traveling throughout Ontario and Quebec. I spent most of my time along the Ottawa Valley overland route, which can be found on graveltravel.ca. I am honestly, very impressed with this vehicle. It got me through a lot of nasty weather and...
Thank you, I'm loving it - always impressed by how nimble this thing is! Will be taking it out to northeastern Ontario and Quebec in a week. Just bought a 2" front 2.5" rear lift a moment ago.
No, not much more noise! I was actually pretty surprised how little the change from the stock Dueler road tires to the Falkens made in that respect. I'm also considering Geolandar A/T's for a summer off road/mostly highway driving tire. I love the Falkens and don't want to wear them down too...
Thank you! Coincidentally, the blue of the solar array matches the blue of my Subaru badge, and I think the vinyl fits nicely with the rest of the vehicle. I used a Lensun solar panel, and if you want flexible panels (which I'd definitely recommend for vehicles) they're the way to go - they...
Thanks man! No opportunity for the 6000s as I didn't end up getting one. I figured it'd be better to spend my money on a Dometic fridge (CC40), 2" lift, and skid plates. I'll keep off the rougher stuff for now ;-) but I can say, my traction pads have gotten me out of every deep bit of mud I...
I've been busy as of late, but I too would like another meetup. It seems like there are some new faces here, plus there's people who missed the last one (such as myself). A new one sounds like a good idea!
EDIT: Just a heads-up, but I don't believe I'm on the main roster. Komoka, ON here!
Selling a set of 4 Bridgestone Dueler H/L tires (P225/55R 18) on OEM Subaru Forester XT 18" alloy wheels (5x100 bolt pattern). Located in southwestern Ontario, Canada.
These wheels and tires are almost new - they have had very little use; no more than 2500 km's. Excellent tires for city...
Try tying some rope or bright orange nylon webbing to the handles, then throwing it out of the way. I found that really helpful for locating and pulling them out of the muck.
It seems that a lot of the X-BULL tracks which have failed, did so from bending in cold weather? At least that's my experience/what I've read so far. Someone said the RUGCEL did well in "-20C" so who knows. Perhaps worth trying a different design, even though they're the same material. Shorter...
To echo Grubworm; well said! You describe my fears (and probably most others in our generation) very well. Having seen how quickly life can go sideways - my best friend's dad was set to retire from the police force, until he ended up dying of cancer within a year - I figure it's best to spend...
As the other millennial (early 20's) who voted in the poll, I'll chime in!
I think a lot of our generation is just really desperate to escape the daily race; go to school, go to work, go to bed, and repeat... relentlessly. We see others get caught up in this, but we don't want it for ourselves...
