Took a break from "overlanding" and did some campground camping.
Just wanted to share how quickly and drastically the weather in the mountains of Central PA(where most of our best overlanding is) can change
Pick a state forest near you.
I strongly suggest going to Bald Eagle as you can dwell right into many types of off pavement travel. It is centrally located. And enough people use it that if you do find yourself in a jamb...someone may eventually come by.

My RAM 2500 on a trip to the beach. Hand Calculated it was 18.2
And with a 32 Gallon tank...i did not have to stop for gas.
My 99 Dodge with a V10 gets 16 on the highway.
They both get about 10 to 12 bouncing through the forest. Depending on my right foot control.

Where the MABDR comes through Central PA there is alot of missed opportunities following the route.
In this area there are many motorized/dispersed sites to camp in.

I have owned a 77 Ramcharger an 89 Ram Charger and a 79 Trailduster. And multiple 77 and 78 Shortbed PowerWagon. They are my absolute favorite vehicle. A Bronco and Blazer would be too but Chevys do not run when I drive them and Fords leave me stranded.
