Went to Spruce Creek Tavern. Right near the entrance to Rothrock. Highly recommend if in that area. Great meal at a decent price. Wonderful atmosphere.
I connected the forests again this weekend. Got the new 4th edition of Bald Eagle State Forest which includes Rothrock and Tiadaghton State forest. So, I made it a point to hit all 3 again.
It was a bit of work to get the family started off on this adventure. Slept in, forgot stuff, changed...
Got one last trip in...and it snowed.
Goal was to check out some of the seasonal open for travel roads and to see the hang glider site.
We had a great weekend.
Will get into more detail in one of my other threads.
He did only ask if 265 tires where hindering him, which they are not...and as true enthusiasts we head down the rabbit hole till we hit different terrain needs different tires.
I am kidding, but now I must ask...are true overlanders now carrying different tread styles and making trail side tire...
I remember when having oversized tires meant having 31 tires. Now most trucks come standard with 33s
Oh...I forgot...my van has 235...haha
None of them have issues doing the overland thing. Just plan each route or camping experience differently.
Winter is the only time I really concern...
I always want to give a solid opinion...but the only vehicle that suits my needs and preforms well for me is RAM HeavyDuty Trucks.
the Honda Ridgeline does catch my eye often. But just too small for me.
I really wanted a Gladiator...but the same.

Not sure what the tri state area is to you, but in Pennsylvania you can find all the sites real easy on ReserveAmerica.com now.
What you are looking for is state forest motorized sites.

Well, just like that 2022 is about over. We did get some adventuring in...but my gosh not as much as I wanted.
Got new tires for the truck, heading for Pennsylvania inspection Monday, and will be doing some scouting of some new and old areas.

Connecting Forests in the Mid Atlantic.
I enjoy using Purple Lizard Maps for this, because they take the guess work out of private roads and legal recreation.
They are adding more maps...so my route will expand accordingly.
I keep all my smaller paper maps in my adventure bag. Along with measuring tools, compass, binoculars, knives, journals, note pads(graph paper), etc.
My larger atlases ride under the center console of the truck.
I mean no disrespect to the Bigfoot Community, I am a skeptical believer(which means, I have no reason not to believe...but some of the proof is...skeptical).
If you follow along with researchers, they often talk of tree breaks and formations...
