We just got back from a 10 day trip with our Jeep and Tentrax. I’m curious if I should bring the Tentrax to the meet and greet. Will there be sufficient room to park it?
Love the new app! Only thing I noticed is that I couldn’t update the rigs portion of my profile. If I click in the field to start typing the keyboard covers the field so I can’t see where I’m at or what I’m typing. If I try to scroll the screen up to see the field, it resets the page and the...
Empty it supposedly weighs about 600lbs. Fully loaded the way it is now it’s probably around 850lbs. The LJ (TJ Unlimited) has the old 4.0 I6 which is dependable as ever but not terribly powerful. It tows it fine but we do downshift out of OD on any hills.
Well the storage system has been in place now for just over 3 years and it’s still working great. New addition is an IceCo VL60Pro strapped to the top. We power it with the Jeep battery when we’re traveling or just overnight. If we’re staying longer than a day we power it off a Lion Energy...
Wish we could join you but we’re currently on the Gulf Coast of Texas. We hope to join you when we’re back home on Spirit Lake in April. Have a fun and safe trip!
Great ideas all!
I hadn't thought about the heat resistant gloves or a Pulaski.
A pressurized shower is a great idea too. It would allow you to direct / spray water where needed.
We're all wearing face covers these days but perhaps a real N95 or higher mask and some safety glasses would be...
With all the wildfires in the western US right now, I thought it might be a good idea to get a simple thread going to discuss the kinds of fire suppression gear you should / could carry in your rig when you're off-grid.
There are numerous laws and regulations that govern this topic and I'm sure...
It's been 6 months and I'm still happy with the design for the most part. One thing I'm still trying to decide is if I should hinge the front section so it can be locked somehow. I just put a soft top on the LJ for the summer and not sure I like having all the contents of that section easily...
Thanks Eric,
I know we've not really even thought about our "home church". For us, this is a little more literal as we've hosted a small group study in our home most weeks for nearly 10 years. That's definitely something we'll have to put some serious though into. Appreciate the feedback and...
MMc,
Thanks for that reminder. I was vaguely aware of the need to keep the DL and plates in the same state but some states are really hawkish about that. I know in Oregon, they want to have the DL and vehicle registration to also have the same address. It comes in to play when it comes to...
Thanks for all the feed back on this! We definitely have some decisions to make. We will be looking into this in detail after the new year as we start to look at taxes.
Thanks all!
Merry Christmas!
Thanks for the encouragement! Nothing has changed yet. :) Unfortunately, my current job won't "let" me move to another location which is why we would want to rent something small locally. For the short term, if we maintain a local presence, my current employer won't really know or care if I'm...
Those are all great ideas. I think the plan to sell the house will continue regardless but that's just to give us freedom. I will definitely check out those sites. We do own a toy hauler and a large truck so an extended RV trip is totally doable and easy to back out of if we don't like it. I've...
Thanks for the response!
Using a relatives address sounds like a reasonable solution to the residence question if we don’t end up keeping a small home base somewhere. I guess I’d just have to research each state we want to visit to see how long I could be there before having to declare...
This is for a my 2006 Wrangler LJ Rubicon but maybe it can give you some ideas.

So my wife and I have a crazy idea. We want to sell our home and downsize much of what we have. With no mortgage debt, this will allow us to move to an area, live there for a few months, explore all the area has to offer, and then relocate to another area. The other option would be to live...
