Great mentality John, far too many go and buy a vehicle, bolt a load of stuff to it and end up denting their vehicle, wallets and pride.
My suggestion is to find a club and tag along, A bit different but here in the UK I paid £10 for a years membership to a club and spent a couple of weekends...
Well I've found the vid!
There's also a more recent route written out that I've attached, can't find it in map form yet but I'll try and get it into viewranger when I have a spare bit of time unless anyone can find something we can import first.
Hi All,
I seem to remember a few years ago Fifth Gear did a segment where they drove Coast to Coast entirely off-pavement on BOAT's using a Lada Niva.
Does anyone have any details of the full route? sounds like it'd be an ideal OB meetup/trip for 2018!?
Alex
Anyone got any favourites?
The problem we have round here is there are some good fun BOAT's but generally they are no more than a mile long, hardly overlanding territory.
The prospeed rack is absolutely silent up to around 90MPH then you get a faint whistle. It also has no noticeable impact on MPG.
The best thing about it is the mesh floor, it's incredibly strong and by it's nature things can be secured and lashed to it regardless of their shape or stacking...
My wife is all for exciting journeys and will very happily run a trail road all day but no matter what I do I can't get her to camp.
We've got a caravan recently and are using that for some family holidays so I'm hoping over time that will ease her into it a bit more. Fingers crossed.
The underbody protection is a mixture of Prospeed for the Compressor guard (which is a must, as you can jack the whole car on it despite it being previously the most vulnerable part) and an independent maker called Next Generation.
The Next Generation stuff was a guy trying to set up his own...
Yeah that's exactly my take on it. I'm sure it's not him as I get the feeling he's the type of guy that'd show every bit of detail but whoever is in charge of the timing and editing gives X amount of time and devotes it to the less technical aspects.
Planning on Raptor coating my Roofrack, Sump Guard and Ladder soon so some Raptor coated MOD boxes would look pretty awesome to go with it. Been watching some on eBay for a while but all go for north of £100 and I just can't justify it.
You really did get a bargain. A friend of mine last year...
I had a cheap one of these a few years ago and had to get rid of it as it interfered with my cars inbuilt GPS.
I assume that's because it was a cheap and probably quite new product.
No problems of this nature with these? Do they work internationally?
Alex
Thanks for posting that. I like the Dirt Every Day series of things but, and it might just be me, I feel they never get anywhere near the amount of time they'd like to show the bits they'd like and it ends up being condensed into a tiny little 20 minute presentation when it should have been a...
Hi Guys,
Thought I'd best say hello in here. Just got my number through and really stoked to be part of such a community.
I'm Alex and I'm from Hastings on the South Coast of England. Had my LR Discovery 3 (LR3) for nearly 5 years now and always loved long trips in the car and offroading so...
