    Pretty sad :-(

You know you are feeling cut off from humanity when it gives you a little thrill that your toaster oven said ”Hi” to you.

    State Loop Trips?

Not a state but a province. Sadly, impossible in British Columbia due to remote, rugged and convoluted coastal areas. Unless I can use the ferry (Port Hardy to Prince Rupert) for that part??

Good to know Kent. Will be in touch if it is on and we can get there.

US West Overland Expo Flagstaff 2020 moved again.

Really hope that comes to pass Kent! We were booked for Expo Mountain West this year and it would be great if we could get it in for 2021. Does OB plan to be at both W Expos if possible? Might see you there :-)

What are you using to mapping your journey and navigating your route?

As posted on another thread, We find a combination of technology used in appropriate situations works best for us (vehicle Nav, Android tablet, Garmin Zumo and Garmin Inreach) On the highway on the way to the trails I find the vehicle Nav is the most convenient. For the ”big picture” my...

    Best gps nav, ?

Right on! I forgot about OsmAnd. I use that mainly for ”out of vehicle” navigation i.e. hiking to my photo spots. It is an excellent resource once offline maps are downloaded. For those photographers out there, my go to photo planning software once I'm onsite is ”Plan It for ”Photographers”. I...

    Camp entertainment

Chopping firewood! It's productive, good exercise, warms you up and is therapeutic. Just don't do it early in the morning or your neighbors could ”tune you up” :-)

We find a combination of technology used in appropriate situations works best for us (vehicle Nav, Android tablet, Garmin Zumo and Garmin Inreach) On the highway on the way to the trails I find the vehicle Nav is the most convenient. For the ”big picture” my co-pilot follows along with a...

    Firetowers

We found this cool tower at Havasupai Point, on the south rim of the Grand Canyon about 40 miles on dirt roads west of Tusayan. It would have been a fabulous view of the canyon from the top but they had removed the bottom flight of stairs to prevent access. Oh well, we were camped (in a...

    ISO Off-road trailer

Yeah, shipping was a bit rich, so we went and picked ours up last December. It was a blizzard going over the Coquihala pass on the way back home but the whole rig performed very well. Pity we can't cross our common border right now, that could make a great overlanding trip for you! Hopefully soon.

    Windshield Pics...

Yup, that's a black bear scoping out berries along the side of the road. Completely ignored us as we slowly drove by not 4' away (windows up!). Northern Vancouver Island, Canada in July this year. Actually, not an uncommon sight up here.

    ISO Off-road trailer

Check Off Grid Trailers. They have everything on your list and come in two different styles,, Expedition and Pando 2.0. They are a little pricey but built EXTREMELY sturdy. AND, it's in Canadian dollars!!! They are in Edmonton, Alberta. We have the Pando and love it.

What do you use for camp light?

I still carry my old Coleman lantern, and a container of naptha and a boat-load of replacement mantles. Yea, the old lanterns don't hold up well to overlanding but they do sure seem right at the campsite. Somehow the loud hiss is good company. And yes, I do also have LED headlamps and porch...

    Photography

Hi all. Amazing variety and quality here. I've been a fairly serious amateur photographer for a number of years now, currently shooting on a Canon 6D II with a variety of lenses. Sure, nice cameras are fun to have, but it really comes down to being in the right place, at the right time and...
