Installed the Alucab Shadow 270 degree awning a few weeks ago and have put it to use a few times. I’m pretty impressed so far. The mounting brackets are really stout, the build quality is pretty great and I like the small details included like the integrated guy lines and aluminized awning...
Why wouldn’t you just keep the rack and move it to the next vehicle? You can buy different legs for them. Matter of fact you can buy every single individual part if needed.
I spent a lot of time researching and it came down the the K9 roof rack or front runner. Ultimately I landed on the front runner due to the ability to make a solid surface instead of just slats.
The front runner has an aluminum powder coated tray. The other parts are all powder coated...
I’ll be that guy and say that I hated my F250 powerstroke. I had the dreaded 6.4 that had all kinds of problems. The real thing I hated was the rough ride you will get with all 3/4 or 1 ton trucks as well as the pain in the but of having only 1 diesel pump at most gas stations and there always...
Awesome rig! Just a friendly hint, those ball joints are going to need to be serviced a lot. Just one of the trade offs on the design. I’m sure you are going to love that suspension set up.
You’ll spend $800-$1000 per diff to regear depending on the mechanic and the quality level of gears. Hardly worth it if you are only going to 4.56 or even 4.88.
Getting 33’s will be half the price if you include selling your 35’s for a few bucks. You will get better mileage, less wear and...
Nice! I started with the OME/JKS kit and loved it for the most part. I ditched the disconnects, they came apart on the road more than once so I swiched to a Currie system. The trackbar wasn’t the greatest either. Check out my build here: Boosted LJ Build - JeepForum.com
I’m happy to help...
I use my goal zero yeti 400 and a fantastic fan. Fans just plain use a ton of power so you will either get poor performance or poor battery life. I use the goal zero for led lights and phone/camera charging as well so it’s multi use. In my truck I use this on low or medium if it’s really...
Gun shot wounds are not all you use hemostatic agent on. Let’s be honest, you are far more likely to get in a car accident, gash from a hatchet, fall on a tent stake, etc.
I think with the impregnated gauze that is readily available it’s silly not to have in a first aid kit. The stuff is...
I highly recommend Livernois Motorsports for Ford tuners. They actually test every tune on the dyno, leave safeties in place and back up their product 100% with lifetime tune updates. Livernois also has worked with Ford SVT in the past on multiple projects. I have used their tuners on two...
I freed up a ton of space in the truck with the new front runner rack. The minions approve as well. This will be the first version of the layout to hit the trail. I’ve plumbed the water tap on the passenger side. The Alucab shadow 270 is going on the drivers side.
There is no reason to leave the fuses in line. One of the benefits to the spod is that you don’t need the inline fuses therefore not having to pack extras. I eliminated all the inline fuses on all accessories connected to both vehicles with spods with zero problems.
Why is that? Load rating no longer has anything to do with the number of plys or layers of fabric. Almost every tire has 1-2 layers of fabric or 1 steel belt. My personal experience is that modern c rated tires are perfectly reliable off-road. E rated tires on lighter vehicles give such a...
I’m a UTM/USNG guy. I am very good with MGRS but it’s not really used outside of .mil This year the National Association for Search and Rescue officially adopted USNG. USNG is the same as MGRS CONUS and surrounding territories until you go to NAD 27 DATUM.
USNG has been adopted by DHS for...
I’ve played with the layout of the rack and I think I’ve landed in a good spot. The left and right side hold bike racks. I have 2 spots for my Aluboxes(42L), Double Jerry Can mount, 47L water can with spigot, maxtrax mount on the passenger side, space to hold my shiftpod down the middle or the...
Finally bit the bullet on a front runner rack for my camper shell. I spent 6 hours yesterday from start to finish removing the Yakima system to assembling and installing the rack, extra slats, bike rack, double Jerry can holder, ladder mount, 40L water tank, spigot and over a dozen ring mounts...
