Satelite Phone - Which One is Best?

I do not, I was asking here before I spent, others who have replied have some experience with it though. I have not yet determined the direction I want to go, or if that direction is more than one.

Trying to select the correct vehicle for first overland build

You will pass the initial survey for entrance to heaven for not lying about fuel mileage. Most of the mid-size trucks with gas engines will be in the mid teens off the showroom floor, and half tons the same or a little better. When you put those mid size or SUVs like a Wrangler or 4R in full...

Clearance markers are pretty handy in reduced visibility conditions.

Trying to select the correct vehicle for first overland build

I was a dyed in the wool VW guy. VW and Bosch broke me of that, never, ever, again. Were I to accurately articulate the degree of unmitigated hate I have for Bosch electrical components and Volkswagen, I would surely be banned from this site for all of eternity. I hope each and every one of...

    Looking for advice regarding packrafts

The Venture 4WD guy on YT uses one, and it always looks like for every stroke it goes sideways about as much as it goes forward. Looks to me like it needs some sort of stabilization under the bow to stop/minimize that. That said I have no personal experience with one.

Trying to select the correct vehicle for first overland build

LOL, I too have a background in experimental physics, albeit amateur status, frequently under the careful supervision of high proof ackyhaul. I prefer "undocumented engineer" though. Sounds like you have a handle on it, good luck, be sure and let us know what direction you go so when you fail...

Dispersed Camping- Leaving/Returning to your camp

Trailcams are best deployed in multiples with at least one being a sacrificial anode

Dispersed Camping- Leaving/Returning to your camp

Skulls are so bulky and heavy, I prefer scalps. Seriously though, leaving a camp unattended is always an invitation to theft and mischief, these days feral humans are likely to just take everything. Securing items in a tent would likely discourage the most uncommitted ,otherwise you might as...

Trying to select the correct vehicle for first overland build

You're headed for analysis paralysis. So many variables, and people will push what they like for their needs. Step away from the line, make a list of the things that you really ARE going to do not aspirations. It's very easy to start out thinking to do some resonable trails and primitive...

    4th Gen 2018 Ram 2500 diesel - 35" Spare

I think some heat shield modifications are required, and there is a distance problem between the trailer hitch and rear track bar. I have one on order and the tires stacked up in my garage. One way or another the spare is going under the truck. If I can't get it under the truck after clearancing...

    Amber lighting for Overland rig

Work great during Snovid 21. In that photo the clear center lights are covered, what you see are the 4(outer) KC Gravity Pro 6 with amber Lamin-X, the oem led fogs with amber Lamin-X and the oem led headlights

Specialty coffee setups (ultra coffee snobbery)

I don't know what you carry your Jetboil in, but my Flash, 2- 230gram gas canisters, a propane adaptor, French press, folding utensil set all fit very neatly in the Maxpedition 12x5

Trying to select the correct vehicle for first overland build

I'm not going to slag Nissan, I seriously considered a Quigley NV. But, I sort of addressed this in an earlier post. Mods cost money, supply and demand and all that applies here. Other brand vehicles (almost any of them) will have a far greater selection, availability, and cost where...

Deal on water cans (LCI) update with link to insulated carrier page 6

I'm not sure if this post just isn't being seen, or folks just don't recognize what a deal this is, or if they haul their water in plastic baggies like a pet store fish. But I'm bumping this simply because this is a fantastic deal on MWC's, basically half price and free shipping on the best...

Trying to select the correct vehicle for first overland build

One would hope they didn't have to get under the hood of their rig under adverse conditions, but my experience with working on vans (which in all honesty is not current) is that vans absolutely suck rat peckers when it comes to working on them. For that reason, they would be a haaaaaaaaaard...

Deal on water cans (LCI) update with link to insulated carrier page 6

The military suppliers to the US (and nato) for water and fuel cans are Scepter and LCI (and possibly others). 20l/5 gallon military cans and are the best most durable cans available. Best deal I have found (until now) were Scepter off of Amazon 2 for $75ish shipped. Here is a link to buy LCI...

Trying to select the correct vehicle for first overland build

Ram Rebel(or up fitted Tradesman) , Chevrolet Trail Boss, Ford Fx4 If you want a mid-size Jeep Gladiator, Tacoma, GM Colorado, Ford Ranger If you want to build it out over time (which is wise, wise, wise) look at aftermarket parts availability and the cost of those parts as well as what it is...

    Interstate 5x8 Enclosed Multi-Use Trailer

I'd put Raptor liner on the bottom, there are tons of teardrops that are sealed inside and out. Swelling in untreated plywood comes from moisture intrusion, failing to seal it invites moisture intrusion. If the floor is construction grade plywood I would replace it with a zero void ply like...
