The problem is that guy will always do that, and whine because no one else will. Generally, group runs tend to be for groups you know the drill and know when you have to be moving and when you will stop. Some leeway is always built in simply because stuff happens, people travel with small kids...
As the guy in the back every time, good radio - lots of practical experience herding vehicles. Having a group lead who calls the KM's when the group is making a turn and reminding people to wait for the guy behind them makes my life easier. And as the tailgunner repeating what he says when I...

I think you need to ask what I am putting in the box, as it has been noted the Thule/Yakima boxes are really for lighter weight general use items. But the reality is most boxes are not much better.
You might be able to add a piece of plywood to the floor of the thule box and create your own...
I will add to this no matter what you buy it will need maintenance, if you are wealthy enough or need to have some else do all the work great find a good shop and find out what they service.
Otherwise buy wisely have full pre-purchase inspection done by a reputable shop, once you find the...
From Lillooet we hit the Pavilion FSR heading for French bar creek, this is wide easy run FSR for the most part, although there are a few tight spots further up.
There was a major forest fire through here 2 years ago
Camp at French Bar creek was setup, and while we sat around our fire...
The odd gods of the universe were in agreement and I was able to do this trip.
The route from my APRS GPS track less the trip to/from Lillooet to home by highway, about 1700 km or about 1056 miles with 800 miles off road.
The group consisted of 1 Discovery, 1 new Defender, 1 LR3, 1 P38 and 6...
7 days 1700 km or about 1056 miles about 800 off road zero issues other than one heater hose clamp vibrating loose. 10 Land rovers of various types, 13 adults, 1 little one and 2 dogs.
My Discovery at 7350 Ft near Perkins Peak, I will do a more complete report later this week.
The GPS...

Interesting discussion - my Discovery has about a 1500 payload my rtt, awning, roof bars and me take up about 300 of that. I will load up for along trip, including 40 liters of gas and pop up to the local land fill and get weighed. So far I run about 900 or so all in.
I try an keep weight...
Seals all if they still make it works on almost everything, a few self tapping screws, small drill and a couple small pieces of aluminum or sheet metal you can patch a gas tank or oil pan. It would get you to a hiway in most cases.
Nothing immensely exciting, just a day out with my Local LR group. But a least there is finally a video of my Disco in action. West Harrison Lake BC, coming up the road down to Lookout lake.

I bought a used Mavic Air 1 - it works well. Batteries are beginning to be an issue for but that is it. Quality is very good and they are easy to fly - as to the Mini or Air they both seem to do just fine
I always have both, but my route planning is generally I am going there from here. I use the GPS to generally track my route, and refer to the paper maps for the overview. I hate turn by turn as I find it inefficient, but that could just be me.
I keep an old Garmin e-trex handheld in my kit...
More inconsiderate than rude, but it is the way of things, here SW BC since covid we have a had a huge influx of people heading out to the back country. Most are decent, but the number that dump garbage, ride quads at high a speeds and unsafely have also increased.
Example had one come around...
I covered vast amounts of BC and parts of Alberta in an old 5 speed R50 Pathfinder, just added OME springs for a slight lift. Slept in the back with minimal gear in my 50's, it was a 3000.00 CDN purchase. Never let me down, was limited in capability as far complex obstacles. But I spent 7...
How are your knees and overall flexibility, 65 and I have a RTT on a Land Rover Discovery. It is a ways up and sitting room only, I have no issues currently getting in or out and getting dressed up there. But some younger folks find it awkward.
Given you are basically putting it at canopy...
