    Cheap Amazon Diesel heater recommendations?

@smritte I have the LCD controller in my 5k which lets me control temp via HZ rather than a thermostat. I believe you can just swap those around.

    Cheap Amazon Diesel heater recommendations?

An additional note the combustion air intake has a cheap silencer rather than and actual air filter. Cheap ATV/small motorcycle filters have been used for fliters. Still looking for a good option for the "furnace" air intake. I f Ican find a 3d printable snorkel hood, I can add an actived...

    Cheap Amazon Diesel heater recommendations?

@smritte I use basic 3 inch dryer duct for the air intake. I 3d printed a connector to attach the hose to as I have an all in one unit. There is no heat there and you could use a piece of flexible duct to move the intake further away. For output I used the piece of that came with the kit then...

    Cheap Amazon Diesel heater recommendations?

@MazeVX I know you have your exhaust routed, but out the side is better it as avoids both the cold air intake and hot air output for the hot air better. If you have a permanent mount then you can seal the exhaust better.

How does one "erase" an illegal trail bypass?

You can report it, but if those people are like the ones here they just find another way. We have hauled big downed trees across that kind of thing here in BC but I am not sure that is an option where you are

    Cheap Amazon Diesel heater recommendations?

I have gone very basic as I only use the heater maybe 6-10 times a year, although it makes for a great tent dryer. Protective cover is being built as the electronics are not waterproof, can also side mount if I am sleeping inside the truck. Power is also very basic and admittedly...

    Shovels and Axes

Fiskers spilting axe I won , standard cutting axe and basic shovel. Honestly the cutting axe does not travel much anymore, I use a bow saw and cut wood to split.

    Cheap Amazon Diesel heater recommendations?

Just a quick note, on the 5KW 3 printed parts (ABS and PETG) that are close to heat output on the heater can deform if you are running max temp. Not that you need that high but you should run at max for 10 to 15 minutes every now and then. Did some testing it was after 20 minutes both ABS and...

    Snow Camping, Do You?

I do not mind snow or rain for that matter, the biggest issue is drying out the RTT. But as I can sleep in the Discovery, and they tend to be only 1or 2 nights it is not too bad. The diesel heater made things much better as far as being nice and cozy in the back. The biggest issues here on...

@Sea Diamond Hi Steve no choice on that one, it is designed to side open only I think it is because of the small size it is a Tepui Ayer 2. It could be modified pretty easily for a rear open, but it really makes no difference for me. I travel solo and the Discovery is pretty stable, with...

    Driver training

The term elite military is always fun  But I would think it depends on your personal confidence and experience. I would start with how big the classes are anything much over 10 trucks is too many as far as I am concerned.

    How Do You Travel?

All listed - 2 to 4 days are the best but I enjoy all of them I only carry what I need a Kindle, a couple of actual books a MS Surface pro to dump photos to, rod and reel. With a LR Discovery II carry a few extras is easy it has a large cargo area. Solo or group - depends on how I feel. Slow...

It is funny I see posts by new Discovery owners asking would you drive 600 -700 miles hiway. I have no issue driving my 04 285 miles each way to see my "younger", he is 63, brother. Now that is hiway some of it a bit remote no cell still no issues. The local LR group did 1200 miles...

How to tick-off a trail leader

With group trips and planning it really comes down to keeping things moving. Most of our 2 day club trips cover between 250 to 400 miles of back country, the large majority of it well out of cell range. You need a plan and you need folks to stick together, to give a worst-case example a jeep...
