    Dedicated tablet for mapping

I need a dedicated tablet for mapping as the title suggests. I don't have any intention of adding its own data connection, but in the event that I need to I would like it to be android as that is what I am familiar with. So do any of you have any specific recommendations on one or Links to...

    Most durable travel trailer

The Australians are on the bleeding edge where off road campers are concerned. Frames and suspensions in particular are leaps and bounds better than anything made in USA. In the sub $30k category I would look hard at an Opus 2

    Swiss-Link Boxes/ Storage Cases

Where are they going to live? Inside a truck, or strapped onto a roof rack have entirely different demands.

    Most durable travel trailer

A budget is going to be necessary to do any more than shooting the dark. How old is the child?

Learning to wrench for field repairs and DIY installs

Just tell the authorities that you identify as a mechanic, that's how it works in 2021.

    Very bad day

You're going to have to better describe what it does and/or doesn't do. I understand it doesn't start, does it turn over? fast, slow, normal? What is the battery voltage(s)? What was it's condition when it died? idle, driving down the road, trail, high angle, water, etc. You're positive it has...

Learning to wrench for field repairs and DIY installs

Start with something that is not your daily driver, you WILL make mistakes. Older vehicles are less complex but the basics extrapolate well to newer vehicles (modern electrical systems are the exception). Older vehicles will generally require less comprehensive tool sets and/or specialty tools...

Camp Poop (sorry for the bluntness but I want to know)

You know all those prepaid return mail envelopes you get in the junk mail?

Do you keep a knife or hatchet/axe in your rig?

Redundancy in all things, but particularly in cutting tools. I will say that due to inherent safety I use a saw in every reasonable application, and only go to hacking when it is the only option. I used a Cold Steel LTC Kukri almost daily for years, the old SK5 model. It was a wicked...

Gold company seeks land grab, Goodbye Cerro Gordo?

Hot Box/Bloom box/hydrogen is the answer, but it doesn't direct funds they way they want them to. Bloom box can use surplus solar/wind to create hydrogen which can be stored and the same box will run off of hydrogen. This technology is largely being ignored because a reasonable avenue for...

    Trailer Identification

Yes they are junk no matter what they are. Looking at the pics more , those look like 5x4 1/2 Ford wheels of the 60s-early 70s vintage and are going to be tube type wheels (that dismount from the back side of the wheel). All of them will need to be replaced.

    Trailer Identification

Look like 70s-80s vintage 1/2 ton Ford P/U or full size sedan wheels so 15". Bead ledge is incorrect taper for 16.5s

    Trailer Identification

Looks home/shop built. Also looks to be 3/16 steel so heavy as all get out. Bias ply car tires say it hasn't seen a tire store since the 80's at the latest.

    Removable winch back and front

Not sure what size conductor you will need for 500a @12 feet ,but it's going to be big particularly through a push connector. You will be highly likely to bend the hitch insert on anything other than a direct in line pull. I would (did) mount a winch correctly on the front and plan to go forward.

    Higher Fuel Prices And Overlanding

You missed the operative word there "mate", regulation. I know you are from the EU which is why you are completely unaware of the circumstances here, and how they affected our transition from full energy independence. This is why I said that you literally have no idea what you are talking...
