A friends one as well. He went with a 5K unit which I thought was rather small. He said "Still better than 6 guys pushing!" 2 years old and only used to pull down trees so far..
I personally don't have one. My tracboards have been all I've needed so far. If I did buy one, I do like my friend...
Wahington to Montana via Canada? Hell ya!
Turn as far north as you can before driving south along the Rockies and work with the pain your face has from 'smiling' so much!
I started up in Jasper and only got turned around because the pass wasn't clear! My face ached for 3 days for that far...
Fuel at the stations I didn't see any issues, but... be aware, those stations can be many miles apart! Example, no stations open (to the public) between San Felipe & Guerrero Negro. We ran through Catavina on our way as my sources (map/internet) claimed gas in Catavina. ~330 miles and I average...
I was just there and agree with MMc. Read the reg's of what you can/can not bring across. You can bring gas containers, but no fuel in them. As MMc said, gas is cheaper than CA! Fuel up down there. I have no experience with firewood, yet what MMc said makes sense. Honestly, I found free wood...
Well they combine less than I thought, cool! Could make for a nice loop run in VT. The black route showing is one of mine.. New Boston to Washington, NH by dirt (mostly).
What I've read you don't even need 4x4 for it. I figure to overlay the NEBDR VT sections with the PDT for I figure it overlaps in a few spots. Much like both the Flatlander & Hamster routes do in NH.
Still curious which version of the PDT you have?
Lots to explore in VT! The PDT I hear is mostly dirt and not technical. I have the .gpx for the 2018 route. You have the files for the earlier version (2012 I think)? I believe you can make a loop with both!
I've run the Eastern half of section 6 and had no issues at all with my F150. I'm lifted an 1" from stock...
The western half of 6 & and any points further I have not seen, yet figure it's about the same.. I ran about half the MABDR last summer and passed on only a few sections mainly due to...
I'm looking to finish the NEBDR section 6 this spring then start into section 5 (VT).
First curious if any can commit on the roads? Then is anyone else interested?
Intent this summer is to complete the NEBDR and hopefully venture a bit in PA.
I did 3 parts to this while exploring again along the Maine Coast. This is part 1. Each of the CG's we stayed at were good, coastal and on season you better have reservations!

I've run it out of Waterville into Maine. Very nice run starting in Sandwich Notch (dirt) and going tarred/dirt all the way to Rt16. Evan's Notch is one of my Fav's in NH!
This is the second half of the run during foliage season, First part is the stop at Little Garfield Falls. many know of the main Garfield Falls, yet this on is a bit further backcountry and less visited. Color was glorious for the entire run out of Errol.
We try most years to get north for the backcountry colors. It goes very quick and tough to time it. Now being retired, timing is working with us and we caught the colors!
Also found a 'new to us' route on dirt Errol to Pittsburg, NH
I met a group out of New York that was backcountry traveling...
This one became our favorite! Imenities were far less than the other two, sites much rougher and overall very rustic. Bath house did have running water but only cold and a bit o a woods walk (short cut) to it. Picnic area was tables placed out along the cliffs/rocks with just enough room to...
We traveled up and stayed at Lamoine State Park as the second stop on our way up the coastline. We're trying to hit those spots just off the real busy areas. This one hits the mark!
Fewer water view sites (5 or 6) and the rest up the hill from there, yet they have a abundance of field space to...
We left Virginia and entered West Virginia. The Temperature & humidity was on the rise and forecasted to stay that way (or climb) all week. We needed out of this and get to where suits us better. That took getting into PA!
We will go back, but it will be later in the season! There's just so...
This is our second day working north in Virginia using the MABDR as our guide. We spent probably as much time on as we did off the MABDR for several reasons, yet mainly because we just missed a turn... happens.. seems to us more than not, lol
