What justifies the expense for a rooftop tent?

Ha, not having the ability to build it yourself! Only reason I can see to buy one for that kinda $,$$$'s!

Foliage in PA Laurel Highlands + Beyond 2021

Colorful in our North Country now! Great time to explore a bit. We're heading out Thursday for a mid-State run. This is my favorite time of year!

    Foliage in NH

Timing is everything that far north! We caught it. WOW! Rear just south of Errol into Berlin will not be that far behind. I met a group of Wheeler's out of NYC in the North Country and handed them the run south to Errol. There's an addition of this that proceeds south again out of Errol I...

    Foliage in NH

We just returned from a run Errol to Pittsburg along the NEBDR and it was in full 'color'. This will be gone in a matter of days, so if you can.. do it now! A route I like out of Berlin passing Success Pond is having a bridge replaced before Success Pond! There are work arounds this, but they...

    New Hampshire

Others may know more, yet I do believe Jericho is mainly ATV. A great guide to base a run on is the NEBDR and work from there. I do several runs as I live in NH and about to embark on another starting tomorrow. NH will bring Tar, dirt and Class 6 into play yet expect to do each along the way...

Not so much for VT border, sorry. Do post up how the run is!

    NH camping

Jefferson Notch Road before Rt 2 and after the trailhead parking lot has several dispersed spots (NEBDR goes right through here). If you have others with you, Dolly Copp's group area is still nice (small fee). The main campground is lost to the glamper's...

What Did You Do With Your Rig Today?

Finished up the updated wall wrap and moved on to the updated DC/DC - MPPT Solar unit. The front windows were getting splash back from the cab of the truck and the material was wicking water at the base seam/fold. Using Ottertex 8.8oz polyester PU coated.

Attempting to make a window awning RTT stye

I have it sewed and mounted! Working through the stays, workable as is! That's good cause we leave in 3 days for yet another run... though this one being fairly short. I'm gong to leave it deployed for a few days and keep adjusting as I see need on the deployment points. So far I'm using...

    Fishing Licensing

Years back I fished Yellowstone NP for free. All you needed to do was request the permit. Have no clue if they still do this. I do wish 'all' National's allowed this! Aa a retired Senior Traveler that has the Lifetime Pass it would be a great addition!

Attempting to make a window awning RTT stye

That makes sense. I figure last resort is bungee cord to hold those ends in place. Thank you very much for the input!

Attempting to make a window awning RTT stye

No pole back to the tent to hold the ridge taunt? What stops the side to side sway? Again just that bent pole? Sounds way too simple... By doing some math... LOL. The post of which that bent pole connection has to be lower than the pivot pole by a decent amount. Say 10% past (?). Hmm.. You...

Have to get car sticker glue of vehicle??

That's also my first go-to! Using an eraser with it helps get it started.

Attempting to make a window awning RTT stye

Can someone explain how the RTT awning are held open with just that bent pole I see on so many? Trying to create an awning for my cloth walls on the pop-top. Do they have a pole in the awning running back to the tent as well? Seems like it has to..

US Southeast Tents & Tires 2022 New Year's Day Rendezvous

What kinda temps are average/expected. We will be Baja bound after Christmas and wondering where to spend New Year's eve with fellow curious explorers. Can you camp up there? Are some of you doing NYE there? Coming out of the Nor'east, Georgia is doable with ease.

    Ottertex Fabric

I match thread to material so 100% polyester thread just makes sense. Needle, I'm trying the microtex/sharp as it creates the smallest hole (that I could find) and was advised it will handle 2 layers, possibly 3 with ease. Though is, if I don't push it, it may handle the velcro as it's such a...

    Ottertex Fabric

I just bought some Ottertex® Polyester Ripstop (PU) - 8.7 oz, so it's late to ask if anyone has experience with it. Details/specs looked good enough to just go for it. I'm coming from Duck Cloth and want something a bit better... Really hoping I didn't make a mistake.. I'll know personally next...
