    Keeping It Cool....

    I had a Pelican 65Qt. It was just to big and bulky. I ended up selling it and getting a 80 Qt fridge. They are about the same size, and the fridge weighs less.

    I bought a Cabelas Alaska Guide 8 man tent that we used near Mammoth for deer hunting this year. It worked great, kept us warm and dry.

    Build it. The 7.3 is a great motor, and large SUV's are great platforms for expedition rigs, especially solid axle ones.

    1989 Suburban. I'm very familiar with this series of GM trucks, needed the room, and had a older one that the body was rusted to crap, I already have a ton of parts.

    My 1989 Suburban

    Here is how she looks right now. I just got my Dana 60 back with 4:88's and a crossover steering. I need to install my lift, the Dana 60 and 14-Bolt w/ disk and detroit, the crossover steering. Then I need to install the rear bumper and build dual swing outs for a spare tire and fuel/water cans.

    Added a couple of 12v outlets, USB outlets, and my CB to the center console. I used a Blue Sea fuse block to wire everything into.

    Next order of business was to build a drawer/sleeping platform in the back. I had a couple of friends come help me with it. The back of the Suburban was only 5'-8", so I had to make a flip up platform extenson.

    Figured I may as well start a build thread on my 1989 GMC Suburban. I bought it for $1500 w/ 119k miles, full power (except tailgate), A/C, etc. I have another old Suburban that is rusted to the point of junk, but I'm taking all the good parts off it and installing them on this one.

    If they do total it, you should be able to buy it from the insurance company. They you can either fix it or swap the parts over.

    Did my 100 mile round trip commute to work in my Suburban today. Thank goodness I have a company gas card.
