Using rigs during bad weather or natural disasters

The original idea was a competent vehicle for beaches/camping, that could haul the people, the gear and the good times. After Irma, I had different ideas and moved towards prepping for disaster readiness and getting my family safe. There was a pretty awesome video (will post if I can find) of...

    Hello from the Bay Area

We're peas in a pod. I sold my touge monster to buy my Willy's JKU. Having just as much (if not more?) fun with so much less danger. 415!

Using rigs during bad weather or natural disasters

Lanlubber I live in central Florida. We have a block house built after the newer hurricane codes came to. So, pretty solid, unless something comes through the roof... A tornado would be a puckering experience, if not just because they seem to come at night and with little to no warning...

Snake Shot: Do you use it for your trail/camp gun when overlanding?

I keep a .22 target pistol loaded with snake shot for when working in the wetland/woodland section of the property (fence repairs, etc). Only used it once on a moccasin that was damn near under my foot before I noticed. Would rather not shoot, but was glad I had it then. Worked well

Using rigs during bad weather or natural disasters

We save, label and re-use our plywood, This is the third time we've boarded up. Only change is buying larger tapcons to secure in the old holes. We stay pretty well supplied, although there's always a grocery cart of stuff (sugary treats, salty snacks, etc) to get to keep the child/pets settled...

    Storm pics

I haven't, however it's been a goal for a long time now; to chase storms/tornadoes in the alley. Combine camping/travel/storm taking? I'm in. I also have watched Twister many times and love it over and over again. I have spent most of my life on the East coast. The 6 or so years I lived in...

Relatively easy camp bread or biscuit recipes?

Yes and maybe? Dough that is leavened with yeast can proof 80% then be "put to sleep" overnight, then baked the next morning without issue. I use this method for pizza dough and sourdough loaves. Yeast, a living thing eating and producing gas, that becomes dormant when temperature's become too...

Relatively easy camp bread or biscuit recipes?

Yes, baking powder expires, andyour powder/flour ratio is slightly off. Add another 1/2 teaspoon of powder and you'll be there as far as recipe balance.

Relatively easy camp bread or biscuit recipes?

Biscuits and cornbread is my go to. I pre-measure all ingredients at home, then basic assembly (the dries mixed with the wets) . Sourdough biscuits are my next test, after reading (and re-reading) Richard Proenneke Alone in the Wilderness. With a healthy starter (flour, water, yeast) you can...

    Water Purification System

Lanlubber: be aware of the amout of bleach you use. 1-2 tablespoon(s) per gallon is standard to sanitize as per food service HACCP programs. As far as application time goes: soaked for 30 minutes, rinsed well with fresh water then allowed to air dry. Don't drink the bleachy water friend!
