This. I also added the wood dust collected from my sander to the mix and feel like it is more flammable/stabilizing. I also get a good burn from a single “puck” and have had 6 month shelf life per batch. I keep 4-6 pucks in my recovery kit and have a tobacco tin holding the rest for actual...
Love to see other Kentuckians join up. I’m from Lexington, now living in central FL. Def missing the opportunities up there. If you’re ever in my neck of the swamp, hit me up for tacos and a cold one. Great Rig! Ride safe.
These sound like good times. And I guess I'll forever be in the semi-dark due to not FB'ing.
What about educational meets: winch/recovery workshop, hi-lift usage, comms, and so forth.
With membership/interest growing so quickly, I wonder if there's any benefit to have stuff like that going on...
I believe there's enough OB membership here to hold monthly meetups. I have read that other areas have regular meets, would be cool to get something like that going.
- Trail Meets
- BBQ Meets (meats?)
- Rig Show-Off meets
etc, etc...
What is necessary to actually chapter up and get organized...
I have been thinking about adding tracks to my kit recently as I start to get deeper in my travels. The X Bull is $70 for a pair vs $340 for the top brand. I inherently research and save up to buy the equipment that will give me years of use and reliability, without question, when needed...
And last but not least, I always keep a few packs of Pocky sticks. Basically a sugar cookie stick covered in dark chocolate. It sounds silly, however when things go south, it's always been beneficial to me to have something grounding. Taking a moment, having something simple and sweet, could...
Spare power source. I keep a battery jump box in my roadside kit that's good for 20 or so jumps and can charge devices. I lost a battery once, hopefully never again
Interesting thought. Are you thinking an explanation? Not sure how that would work with OB.
I had an laminated thing from a local Jeep club put on my window while at Lowe's the other day inviting me to their meetings.
Is this what you're thinking?
Bushcraft and Advanced Bushcraft by Dave Canterbury are interesting reads. Also SAS Survival Handbook by Wiseman, recommended to me by my brother.
I just downloaded a few freebies from Kindle after doing an "Overland" search (have not read yet) if anyone is interested:
- The Oberllyn's...
My go to movie is Easy Rider. Can't watch it without gearing up and hitting the road. The first time I watched it was in a Kentucky January snow ridden morning. My friend had a triumph and me an '76 CB550. We layered up and made it to Knoxville before freezing up and turning back.
Deliverance...
Love the Hoyt and the PSE's bows. The Infinity allows to adjust weight; good balance of an hour or two of field practice @ 55# or 25/30 pulls @ 70# with G5 tips for hunting accuracy.
Do you have a preference of the 2?
