I have done it a few months ago.
There is one section that has deep muddy wet ruts that could hang you up. Another section of that has a deep washout. Both are passable with a little thought.
Have figure out anything yet?
I am getting ready to replace my stock rack. Legs/Feet, Runners, and Crossbar members. The Legs/Feet are the only things I have not figured out yet.
Do you have any photos?
I will share an order list and ideas once I am done.
AppState: Good to see another member in the Asheville area. There are few of us around.
We should hit up the Asheville Rigs and Coffee this weekend.

Get your buddy to come with you and take both!

I most likely will not be able to camp but would love to tag along on Saturday... Is there a time I could meet you guys either at camp before you guys head out or at a fuel stop before you guys head up the trails?
Yes, get out there (with what you currently have) and with a good spotter or group that likes to NOT hurt their rigs.
I have been on trails rides and went through some seemingly insane paths and come back without even a scratch because the group I was with had patience, experience and took...
I wish we had those Patrols here... Always watching the guys on the other side of the world running around in them. My parents had an early 90s Pathfinder which did really well, so I can only imagine the Patrols do really well.
I am in the same area. I don't get out enough but love to get out and explore when I can. You should find the Southeast subforum here and post up there.
If you are going up Hurricane Creek from I40 the last intersection before the top is Wesley Creek Road turn right onto it that, and it will lead you right to that spot.
Been twice in a month. It is rough in a couple of sections, so as always, go with a buddy especially if it is the first time on that trail (also if it has been a couple of months as trails can change quickly).
Not exactly what your looking for but I have found a Yeti bucket works great. Right height and size keeps my drinks handy to boot so I don't mind the space it takes up. Also since I have the drinks I can keep tabs on qty left.
