Checked with them and while they have something for Icom HTs, the 2730a (best I can tell) needs input to go through the RJ45 and output through the speaker, which Mobilinkd did not have a cable for. So will need to find another source or create my own.
While I like Android and would not say don't go get an Android device.... The Backcountry Navigator XE seems to have plans to be on iOS. Their website claims they are in early beta and can get it from "TestFlight" seems like beta testing sight

So I have an Icom 2730 and Mobilinkd 2.2 device being delivered sometime sooner or later (COVID19 willing). But I will need to make a cable to connect the devices together. Attached is a picture of the Icom Mic pinouts and the TNC instructions, it lists the pinouts for the TRRS output from the...
Is this an example of the radio you are talking about?
https://store.mobilinkd.com/products/kenwood-tk-790-used
What do you use to program it?
Can it run the Voice Alert?
Is it possible to run 2 radios through 1 antenna? (what pitfalls/problems can this cause?)
Very nice, with Backcountry Navigator Pro (seems to have a couple of options) are you subscribing to one of their premium map services or just using the included maps that come with the purchase of the pro app?
Are you using Voice Alert at all? So I believe a temporary workaround for me on the...
Yes, I think it will be a pretty cool little device (I ordered version 2 as I don't have iOS devices nor digital radios).
However, remember what was highlighted by Mike earlier. It is most likely not a permanent solution as there are a couple of key features that are missing from this. Namely...
Greg yes and no
Not sure exactly what all you want to do there but in APRSdroid (big note you must click the station or message you want to see so you must be in the messages area first not the log) you can click options button and click open in external source and use Gia. (I currently don't...
3 of 2730 sounds like putting your money where your mouth is! That makes me think I made a decent choice for my first Mobile rig. Currently, I am using a Baofeng HT as my only radio.
So during my research the ID5100 seemed that the default was D-PRS but it seems that it has other options...
Very nice Kenwood!
Running "convoy management with APRS" is exactly what I was thinking. Also, a great way to relay info that we might want to refer back to without having to write it down.
On the Ras Pi, what version are you running? What all are you using it for?
I was looking at the Ras...
That will most likely be my next mobile radio. It is what I really wanted but could not justify the extra $150 for it as I have not been using my HAM enough as is. But if I start finding more time to use my radio it will be easier for me to justify buying another radio.
So I pulled the trigger on the Icom 2730a and Mobilinkd. Wanted a mobile for the GX for a long while and finally did it. I hope those Japanese radios live up to their hype. I really wanted to run some APRS stuff and the 2730a has no native way to do that so I figured the Mobilinkd would be...
