    Hello from Wisconsin

Welcome from another Wisconsinner. I'm in Manitowoc. This place is a great resource for info. Shoot me a message if you're ever in my neck of the woods.

    Seriously a Bronco?

I've always loved first gen Broncos, but they all seem to be super expensive or clapped out by now. I've been thinking more about getting a full size Bronco for some heavier trails. We use an Outback for our adventures (and a daily), but I know it has limitations, and want to build a little more...

Best budget overland vehicle? - 2017 Subaru Outback 2.5i (build thread)

Great post. Our adventure-mobile is a 2010 2.5i (also no fogs) that we had for a few years before deciding to off road it. Got KO2s last summer (found a deal for $325 for 4 with 11 miles on them) in a larger size on a set of used Subaru stock wheels from an Imprezza for $100. Picked up an ADF...

What piece of gear made the biggest improvement to your experience?

So far the biggest thing I can think of is the roof top storage box (though I didn't technically pay for it, found on the curb) since it gave us the room to take all our camping gear with my wife, son, and I. Tires were a game changer, and I have a lift kit yet to be installed that I can't wait...

    2019 Ford Ranger

I'm really curious to get my hands on one. I've been following it since Ford released info on them. I've been working for Ford since June, and the anticipation is killing me. My dealership has a Lariat coming in sometime in the next 2-3 weeks. I'll try to do a hands on review once it's here...

Trans Wisconsin Adventure Trail permits questions

@eric evans As the president of the Friends group for a WI state forest I appreciate that! How did the trip go? We did it in June and had a great time. Will likely do it again in sections this summer as weekend trips.

    Subaru Owners Registry

Also, my wife and I became moderators for MTN ROO WI recently. We will be at Fl4tfest in Madison, WI next weekend if anyone is in the area or is planning on coming. There is a car show, rally x and auto x. Mtn Roo also built an off road obstacle that anyone can run for $10. We have a whole...

    Subaru Owners Registry

Picked up a set of used wheels from an older Forester I think, not too sure. They were plastidipped black, I peeled that off and dipped them graphite sparkle as a color test. We'll be painting them next time they come off the car. Also got a set of 29" (235/70/16) BFG KO2s for a screaming deal...

    Bugs on the windshield.

I've always waxed my windshield. Helps the water run off, and seems to make it easier to spray the bugs off. You do have to keep up with it though. At least with some spray on stuff once every month or two. I think I only have to get the paste wax out once every year or two. Good frameless...

Hoping to make the UP our next destination. It's only a few hours north to Escanaba where my father in law grew up. Killer video man, subscribed.

    Trans Wisconsin Adventure Trail(TWAT)

Ran the TWAT last weekend. Left Friday night and camped at Apple River Canyon state park about 20-30 miles east of Galena. The trail was a hell of a good time for us (wife and 8 year old son). Got home around 10pm Monday. Lots of big views, as my son said, in the south end. Some great site...

    Subaru Owners Registry

Just wanted to throw this out there as there wasn't much info on the issue. 2010 Subaru Outback - We had a pretty substantial leak in the roof (no sunroof model) that I had a hell of a time tracking down. First thought was the 3rd brake light, which once I pulled it out the gasket was shot...

    New from Wisconsin

Welcome to the forum. Not too many of us here from WI. I'm in Manitowoc, work in Sheboygan. There is a ton of great info here. Can't say I know much about Rovers, but there are plenty on this site.

What Did You Do With Your Rig Today?

Took our stock 2010 Outback out last Saturday on a trail ride with some new friends from MTN_ROO Wisconsin. It was a last minute get together with a bunch of people we had never met, and everybody had a great time. We were lead (and followed) by some local Jeeps who I think were impressed by...

    Dishes

We've accepted that it will rain every time we camp. I think we've had maybe one trip where there was none, and that's always nice. Better to expect it and be happily surprised I guess.

    16" Wheels/Tires on 2015 Subaru Outback

What size comes on it? I think most of the gen 5 Outbacks have 18" rims, so you will have to check clearance to make sure the 16 will fit over the hub/brake assembly. As for the tire size, the 225 is the width in mm, the 75 is % of the 225, and 16 is rim size. There are charts and calculators...

    Newbie from Florida

Spend some time in the Q&A and Boot Camp sections of the forum. More info than you can shake a stick at. Plenty of helpful people around here. If you're on a tight budget check out the thread on Ozark Trail camping gear. You'd be amazed at how cheap you can get decent stuff, at least to get...

Looks good. I'm starting to shop for a 4runner or Land Cruiser. We have an Outback that gets most of the love, but I want to get some places it just can't go. Looks like you got a solid deal too. Most of the 4runners I see around here for that price are ready to rust in half or have 250k miles.
