Yep Post BS Thread Goes Away.

All of you have some really good, and valid points. Unfortunately, it has got to the point that anything, and I mean ANYTHING, tends to get politicized! Seriously... you buy a certain pancake syrup you're a racist right winger; you prefer a vegetarian diet you're a socialist left winger.

I have 3 actually! Two totems and a mut. Back in my Army & ROTC days, I was training with Rangers at Ft. Knox and was the XO of the ROTC Ranger Battalion I was in, we called these "Ranger Creatures". One of mine is a Voodoo doll and the other is LEGO's Johnny Thunder. The mut's name is Winston.

New Cast Iron Care And Maintenance

That we are. Now, if we drive into Wichita, and go to an antique store, they would be very pricey. The only dud I've snagged at an estate sale that really bothers me was an antique aebleskiver pan. Unfortunately the owner had all of her. antique/vintage cast iron painted black, for display...

New Cast Iron Care And Maintenance

The vintage/antique CI cooking pans come up quite often at our local auction house (Erie, Griswold, Wagner, etc), not to mention yard sales and estate sales. Can typically get great stuff dirt cheap around here. Then again I live in a rural area. We have two, large ham boilers, being used as...

New Cast Iron Care And Maintenance

Just not a fan of the Lodge found on shelves now. I'm not a big fan of any of the modern CI pots and pans sold either. When I buy I look for older ones, pre 1950s, especially those like Erie, Griswold and even Lodge.

Well.... 1 - sentimental value; the friend is no longer around and each time I use it I think of them. 2 - I like challenges like this and too many things get tossed as it is. 3 - I'm not a fan of Lodge.

New Cast Iron Care And Maintenance

I've been wondering if there could be something wrong with the metallurgy &/or the casting process. Haven't tried using more oil than I'd think though.

New Cast Iron Care And Maintenance

It's not a lodge. It's a 10.5", round Coleman griddle with handle. I've had it for a very long time and the person who gave it to me got back in the '80s, IIRC, and had issues with it. I have been fighting this thing since I've had it.

New Cast Iron Care And Maintenance

Thanks everyone for the tips. I have tried basically every recommendation suggested here - including "keep using it". I have sanded it down, more than once. I have used just about every oil you can think of - canola, grapeseed, vegetable, flaxseed oil, corn oil, sunflower oil, olive oil, etc...

I was agreeing with you... it's a term meaning "keep telling the truth". Here's a really good, simple, basic example of a person who "based on limited knowledge they often make decisions that have little to no effect on their life's but can have huge impact on people living another model". Our...

I can get behind this... I use to be one of the "lawmakers" in my part of the world, and the vast majority of those who run for office are not in it for the people; they are in it for the power, prestige and their own self interest. Unfortunately it's the people who vote those people into...
