Thanks for the write up and pics, it was easy to follow. I just did this last night to my Plano 1919 (or Heavy-Duty) 108 qt trunks using the MD Window Seal Medium Gaps from Lowes.
This is a great read. I'm working on my meal plan for a trip next weekend for 2 days.
Breakfasts: Muffin and banana, maybe oatmeal
Breakfast Burritos
Lunch: Turkey wraps with shredded carrots and spinach or lettuce
Dinners: Burgers and potatoes or potato salad
Boneless chicken with veggies...
I recently bought an Outdoor Vitals Aerie 20degree bag, Moog bushings and sway bar links.
I’d like the Maxtrax and a Tembotusk Skottle, but I really would prefer spending the $ on some sliders first.
I haven't bought Ultimate GC yet, figured I'd use Google Earth and iOverlander to find a site for my upcoming trip. Thanks for sharing the information!
I've read a bunch of the Customer Reviews on Amazon. It looks like a lot of people like them, and the others complain of the Klymit pads deflating overnight. What's your experience? Do you think most issues could be due to people not using the valve properly?
I have 2 pair of Kuhl pants, and I like the Fjallraven Vidda Pro, just don't want to spend that much. This time of year though, I'm going to check out the Columbia Silver Ridge Convertible or Marmot Transcend Convertible pants. Didn't know about the UA Tactical, so I'll consider those also.
I've got the Keen Targhee II's for boots and the Merrill Moab's for shoes.
I'm currently looking for a decent all year rain/mud boot. Something like these Helly Hansen's. Figured I'll run over to Dicks Sporting Goods before I go on my next trip for something cheaper.
I talked to another Cub Scout dad this afternoon, and he agreed with using this sleep system. He gave me this site for buying the Sleep System at Midway USA. I'm not really into the camo colors but it's a sleeping bag, and needed to keep me warm. So this may be my choice. Thanks!
I keep a Maintenance Note on my iPhone and use the Toyota Service History website to document any service done.
I kept an iPhone Maintenance Note with my former Tacoma and when I sold it, the guy thanked me for keeping the records.
I also keep an Overland checklist (things to take on a trip) on my iphone, and a 2nd list of gear - things I want/need to buy for my T4R and camping. Looks like there are a few more things I need to add to my lists.
My Overland list includes:
Food - snacks/meals and water
and where items are...
I'm looking for a recommendation of a decent / somewhat budget friendly cold weather sleeping bag. Figure I should be looking at the $100 - $150 range. I'd like to able to sleep comfortably at 20°.
My current bag is an Outdoor Vitals Synthetic, rated at 35°. Layered in clothes and a blanket...
So far, I have an Outdoor Vitals Synthetic 35 degree sleeping bag. At 40 degrees I was ok with thermals/clothes and a blanket wrapped around me in my 4Runner. At 24 degrees, I was cold. So these $50 bags are great for spring/fall weather camping but for colder weather, I'm going to need a...
@Mgc that's a nice simple solution
@srad2 thanks for posting the info on that mattress, I've been looking for a good solution for my setup.
Here's mine, that's almost complete. Some carpet to cover the two pieces over the folded down rear seats, and a couple of brackets for support, and it'll...
