Nice rigs! Any other pictures of the 80? I'm kind of just getting started and would love some ideas.
I don't want to hijack this thread.

There is a blog on the RIG build for the 80, and now a 40 that is being upgraded with a 1HDT diesel. Also a Youtube and IG @big_red_adventures for the 80, and photo album.

here are the specs on my 1973 Land Cruiser.

  • 383 New build (Gen 1 rebuilt block new pistons crank, etc) with new Air Flow Research Al Heads from Colorado Speed and Chassis.
  • Chevrolet Performance Small Block Serpentine Belt Drive Systems- replaced 5 separate belts which was a pain when one broke
  • Holley 550-810 Multi-Port Fuel Injection from Colorado Speed and Chassis

  • NV4500 5- speed Manual Transmission (Rebuilt by Rocky Mtn Land Cruisers)
  • OME Med/Heavy lift with 3 deg Castor Correction from cruiseroutfitters
  • Bilstein Shocks
  • ARB Twin compressor for lockers, Tires and other from cruiseroutfitters
  • ARB Air Lockers Front and Rear from cruiseroutfitters
  • Rebuilt differentials (Locker and gear install) by Adventure Offroad
  • New Yukon 4.10 Ring and Pinion from cruiseroutfitters
  • Front and Rear Disk Brakes (Rear conversion from RedLine Land Cruisers, installed by Adventure Offroad)

I am building a 1978 40.

I converted a FJ60 rear axle to a full floater with front disc brake hubs and parts

H55F transmission and split transfer case with 3:1 low range and kept the 4:11 gears in the axles.

Big brake kit widened my front axle to match the rear.

Cummins R2.8 to provide the torque.

Installed a FJ80 power steering box with a FJ105 sector shaft.
