Who's stock, and not planning to gear up?

It depends on what and where your going to use your vehicle for. My F250 is stock, but it's a beast the way it is. I use it to pull the travel trailer and once in a great while take it out to explore. My Jeep JK Rubicon has 3" lift, Fox 2.0 shocks, aftermarket bumpers front and rear, and a...

    Moving to Cali

Man, I am glad I live in central California. We only have two main freeways 99 and 5. Pretty much the basics have been covered and as stated it depends on the LEO's mood. I find it's the CHPs that are less lenient. If they see you are in the military the will most likely give you a break. My dad...

    Not being american

I lived in West Africa for a year. Liberia actually, before the troubles they had. Enjoyed every minute. We shipped my motorcycle there, and bought two more. Had a great time. Will I ever go back? Nope. Been to Mexico, Canada, Spain, Germany, and Denmark. Nice places, but there is no place like...

    [VIDEO] Driving Into A Mine

It's nice to see that it is still open, I read something a few months ago about it being closed up soon.

OB Gathering with all members invited? - possible?

There are locations where this is feasible, two that come to mind are Quartzsite Az and California City Ca. Cal City on holidays has several thousand off roaders camped in area. And the last time I checked the city goes out of there way to accommodate due to increased revenue it brings in for...

    Bodie via Bodie-Masonic Road

I love that route. I attempted the same back in June with Kent R. We had to back track because of snow still blocking trail. Took Bodie Road to Aurora and explored the area. My first time I did the trail we went all the way to Hawthorne Nv. Good times. Sent from my iPhone using OB Talk

    GPS for ipad

I use Gaia as my main app, and also have Topo Maps loaded. Besides the iPad I also carry a Garmin Legend HCx handheld as backup and while out of the vehicle. Oh, I also carry a Delorme Topo Gazette. One is none, two is one. Etc. Sent from my iPhone using OB Talk

What do you use? Ham radio or CB radio?

I have all in my Jeep. Never know what the other vehicles might be using, so I try to cover all bases. Sent from my iPhone using OB Talk

Mounting both CB and Ham antennae on hood lip mounts.

Honestly I had the same setup and after getting both antenna mounts bent from brush along side of trail I moved them to the back on my swing out tire mount. Checked both with swr meter and all is good. Used many times since with no issues of poor transmit or receive. Sent from my iPhone using...

ExploreDesert: Alabama Hills - Laurel Lakes - Mono Lake - Bodie - Coyote Flats

Sorry, didn't answer your question. No, we had to backtrack to Bridgeport and took the Bodie turnoff on 395. Then from there to Aurora via the Bodie Toll road. Sent from my iPhone using OB Talk

ExploreDesert: Alabama Hills - Laurel Lakes - Mono Lake - Bodie - Coyote Flats

We left Bodie and went to Aurora Nv then boondocked over to the hiway due to multiple trail washouts. Got a flat, stick through side wall when turning around for missed turn. Camped out north of the lake in nice sandy area. Had a great time.

Moved to Death Valley (adventure thread)

I understand your pain brother. Luckily when I work out there it's only for a few days at a time. I have been there when the temp was just a few degrees from the record. I was working at Cow Creek. Not good. Also the monsoon can bring flooding. Sent from my iPhone using OB Talk

ExploreDesert: Alabama Hills - Laurel Lakes - Mono Lake - Bodie - Coyote Flats

We just did the Bridgeport, Bodie, Aurora via Masonic last week .Hit snow blockage and impassable trail damage at times. Just had to find a different route. Pretty hard to do in some areas, not a lot of choices. Still had a blast. Also woke up to frost in tent and snowing in Mammoth on Sunday...
