Got mine last night. Unfortunately I won't be able to try them out any time soon as I'll be out of town till mid March.
I can't compare them to the competition as I don't own any others. They seem sturdy and we'll made. Multiple hand holds and they do indeed stack/nest together fairly well...
Thanks for posting pics! Mine are supposed to arrive later today. So I take it your initial impressions are positive? How do they stack? How are the hand grip holes? Possible to use as an impromptu shovel?
I agree that rock stacking and transition smoothing would enable you to get past an obstacle without bridging ladders. However like you mentioned, it changes the trail and makes it less challenging for people following.
If we truly believe in 'Treading Lightly" then I would think that bridging...
Not sure how we are supposed to figure out if we are happy with the product without actually using it.
I guess based on first impressions when taking them out of the packaging? ;)

Saw that comparison. Not many would want to buy a set of the major competitors and do a shootout like they did. Kudos to them!
I ordered of Amazon.com and it says mine will arrive on the 17th. I won't be able to get a chance to use them them till after March 8th as I'll be away on a dive...
I get what you are saying and I've bought cheap, and cried when it broke/failed/died. I've learned my lesson. I agree that for some cases gear either works or doesn't. A recovery rope holds or breaks. I get it.
But I disagree that there is no scale of how a certain traction aid works. I...
It all comes down to how they perform and how they hold up. If they are even half as good as a set of Maxsa's which are double the price, or Maxtrax at quadruple, then they are worth it.
Just think that for close to the price of 1 set of Tred Pros or Maxtrax, you could get 4 sets of these...
Plus 1 on the 3M stuff. I had a clear bra on the front end my 06 Tundra and it protected it very well. You can actually buy it in sheets, but it does take some skill to apply properly. I had it done by a professional and just watching him, I knew there was no way I would be able to do it myself.
Been doing research on the different traction aids that are out there and came across these by Speedmasters.
I have no experience with these and no affiliation with the company. Just wanted to pass along some info.
Currently they are currently 25% off the normal price of $103 on their own...
I have to agree with Big E. Those little front screw mounted tow loops would probably work to help get you unstuck from some very mild sand and mud, but if you were buried up to the axles, there is no way that thing is holding up. I would trust a hitch that more than likely has 4 points that...
I know that some of of the guys on the expo forums used to meet up at a Starbucks in Sunnyvale on the 1st and 3rd Sunday of the month, but I think they migrated over to meeting at the Halford now. I've never been, but could be an opportunity to meet more Overlanders.
I have a couple of the 6 man Coleman Instant Tents. They are inexpensive and literally go up in under a minute. Add another 5 to stake it down, if you want to. Bought my first one for $100 and 2nd on Craigslist in perfect condition for $40. Not the best for 4 season camping, but for fair...
Nice vid! You were having too much fun going through the water. Looks like you really put your Matrax to use. Pretty crazy how easy it is to get stuck
