The Adventure Wagon: A 2004 Volvo XC70 Overland Build

I've always been a Volvo fan. It's fun to see what people can do with them, old and/or new. The XC70 has been in the back of my mind for a long time as a potential adventure rig. Following.

    Hello Texans

White Rock is northeast of San Augustine, but I edited my first post when I realized I was looking at the wrong 131. Had to chuckle at myself. Anyway, it looks like FR131 starts east of 87 at a spot I've marked on a map to check out for a potential camping spot along the Patroon Bayou. From...

    Hello Texans

Welcome aboard. Having to look at a map since I'm not familiar with the area. Found FR131. Also, found Lick Skillet Rd. that runs west from 87. That leads to Pete Pass... and now I'm thinking I need to head down there and investigate. I need to go visit family in Houston anyway... Hmm.

Definitely looks like a solid starting platform. Curious about how you mounted the roof rack/basket?

    1999 Chevy Tahoe

Thanks. My wife and I are definitely fans of the Tahoe. I like it and have gotten to know it so much that if it absolutely bit the dust I'd probably get another one.

This definitely won't be anything wild. That's for sure. The goal is to be functional and capable for what we will be doing. Like you said, for it to be able to do everything reasonably asked of it.

    1999 Chevy Tahoe

We definitely got it to use it. The fun moments and successful trips make the headaches along the way more bearable.

    1999 Chevy Tahoe

More miles logged and another camping trip in the books... and a (small) creek crossing found. Here are a few shots from our anniversary camping trip. Found this on the way. I'd decided to take a more adventurous route. I'd say it paid off. Home sweet home, away from home. Our usual...

    1999 Chevy Tahoe

Thanks. It's definitely not as off-road oriented as other vehicles but the size, parts availability, and (relative) ease of work... and significantly lower cost of entry... were factors in the decision.

Fun is one way to put it. Swapping the pump and installing the tank was a breeze. What took the most effort was getting the lines disconnected from the pump. Tires are 265/75/16.
