Thanks! I have the same setup. I wonder if a 16 would be better, or if it would just be too big. Sometimes in less than ideal weather the 12 is almost too small.
Two days ago, Mrs. Clang pulled the trigger on a new Wrangler. Well, not new, a 2015 with 10k miles. Yes, we now have his and hers.
She has a plan.....
The day we picked it up.
As of this afternoon.
So far, she has added 285 70/17s on Rubi wheels (with 1.5" spacers), Bartact milspec...
It's official - his and hers. I'm now headed to the poor house. Mrs Clang has a laundry list of mods and upgrades the likes of which makes me shudder. And I though I was bad....
What do you think of your TrailHawk? We are seriously thinking of replacing my wife's sedan with one.
Any feedback, observations, gripes, praise would be greatly appreciated.
For $279 I would just do it. They really are decent winches, and at that price value for $$ is unbeatable. I would "exercise" the winch a couple or three times a year. By this I mean spool the cable out and wind it back in under tension - it doesn't have to be a lot of tension. I drag my...
FWIW, you can get a Smittybilt 12k winch for about the same price - $399. I don't have personal experience with this particular winch, but the ratings are good.
I never had overheating issues with mine, but the measured current draw is higher than the Warn 12k that was on my Rover, so I could see how that may eventually trip the thermal shutoff.
To be fair, I never pulled anywhere near the 12k limit with mine for any length of time. I did use it to...
Addendum - I am normally not a fan of extended warranties. Most don't do much for you and are just $$ in the pocket of a 3rd party vendor, but this is a Chrysler warranty, not a third party. Also, the cost of just about any major engine or transmission repair covers the cost of this and then some.
I’m not sure where exactly to post this, or if I am the only dull tool in the shed, but I just found out Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep/Fiat offers an unlimited mileage, lifetime, bumper to bumper warranty on it’s vehicles. You do NOT have to be the original owner. The qualification restrictions are, 1)...
I had one on a 2002 Dodge 2500 Ram long bed. They are definitely well made. As stated earlier, because of the hinge and door setup, putting a rack 0n the bed is not practical. Look at the Rollbak product. They make a aluminum manual roll up that will hold 200lbs of static weight, and will...
I have had a Whisperlight Internationale for at least 18 years, yes the same stove. It has never failed me. I did have to replace the pump after stepping on it, but I guess that's not a manufacturers defect. I carry the cleaning and repair kit, which I have used on occasion, and I do periodic...
Vehicle Cleaning
How many of us, more often than not, put off really cleaning our overland rigs? I’m not talking about driving in the rain, fording a stream or two to wash off the major trail grime, or heaven forbid, even a quick shot at the power wash. We all spend a lot of time and money on...
LightForce Lance 140 halogens with the 100W upgrade. Honestly I run these because I have them, and they have been great lights. This is the third rig I have had this particular pair on. I like the adjustable beam and the ability to quickly switch lens color. They are amazingly bright, and...
