I am sure it would be in that case. However if you already have the receiver as your spot to hit, the hitchgate will lessen the departure angle and add stress via the extra leverage to the hitch and mounts for the hitch.
Calorie bars are good to have and cheap really. Enough to keep you going for awhile. Certainly not as tasty as an energy or granola bars(which are good to keep as well), but are definitely good for a true emergency.
I have wheeled with people running a hitchgate and they work. They work well. You can build one cheaper, but they do as intended without worry.
I saw them hold up to tons of rough road and trail use with 33-35 inch tires as well as extras, like hilifts and shovels.
I built a fold down...
Rations:
Canned foods are far too heavy in my experience. I would never include them in a GHB/BOB.
Simple GORP is always a good one for adult and family alike.
Ramen noodles are cheap and easy. Also lightweight and easy enough to have a bit of variety.
Rice, beans, dehydrated veggies, and...
Virginia again
Tennessee again
Florida or east coast beach with kids
Prolly try a northern trip as well later in summer
Might go a bit west and see some family, but likely will be a better trip in the wife's vehicle since it is all flat out there
My cheap jeep project for winter/spring. 93 V8 w a bum TC. Got a 231 to swap in, new shocks, used 265 75 16 tires, new 16x8 wheels. Need to buy some spacers to lift it and get the TC input swapped over plus pick up a new battery. Hoping to be under $750 in the whole thing.
Drove it home...
Recovery and communications are separate imo. I also did not mention the 2 fire extinguishers, because they are not for recovery but are important. Those and the comm stuff are always along for the ride.
Thanks. It has been a bunch of work, but it has been fun. Much of the stuff for the platform got prototyped on it, so it felt like doing some mods over and over, but it really has turned out well and works far better than most would believe. It will get yet another front bumper here in not too...
It's hunting season. Need to fill the freezer the rest of the way. Hopefully make that trip a couple times later this winter...esp when there is snow to wheel in. Make sure yall get some pics and post em though.
