There are several camp grounds up at Clarks Fork, just before Tuolumne Meadows. They are run by Dodge Ridge Ski Company. If you end up there, look for Milt, he is a campground host at one of them. Good guy.
Nice, hope to go there this summer after Ebbett's Pass opens. I spend most of my weekends in Dorrington, so Hwy. 4 is where I like to spend a lot of time. This winter has caused so much damage to the roads and trails up here, it is going to be interesting to see what is accessible after all...
Trail might be opened, but it looks like you are going to have a hard time getting through.

Look up Black Springs OHV, it's a little lower down Hwy 4, still above Arnold. Also look into Sourgrass Day use, there is a trail there and camping. It's off Boards Crossing Rd. If you're in that area, be sure to stop and the Lube Room and fill up on burgers and beers.

Yes, Hwy. 4 will be closed well into July due to repairs. Not sure what kind of snow may be left at the trail head, but you can count on large drifts at the summit in the trees. Look forward to hear an update on the conditions.
Hwy. 4 is still closed at the East side of Lake Alpine over the pass. Cal Trans is stating sometime in July to open. There is some heavy road work and repairs happening. As of a few weeks ago, Corral Hollow was still not accessible, hopefully, with the hig heat, it may open soon. I will be...
Good luck, the East entry by Bear Valley is about 4 feet deep. The West entry behind the Cabbage Patch Maintenance Station still has the gate closed. Even if they open the gate by 6/24, the snow pack at the top will most likely to too deep to get to the summit. Right now, Lake Alpine is...
Lots of road closures which lead to great camping spots that are now off limits.

Also, the best part about the Eastern Sierra's along 395 are the natural hot springs. There are several in the Bridgeport area. Look into Travertine Hop Springs and Buckeye Hot Springs. These are free and easily accessible.
I'm sure there are spots out there.
Also, if you go to Alpine, from there head West on 4 to Angel's Camp and go North on 49. This is Gold Country, lots of small towns and you will come across Sutter's Mill in Colma, where gold was discovered in 1849, from there, continue to 50 and head East...
Lake Tahoe and Lake Alpine are a long ways apart driving. If you end up at the Lake Alpine area (CA Hwy. 4), there is a trail that is a few hours long and fairly easy that you could do it with your family, son included. It is Corral Hollow. There are many camp grounds or hotels in Bear Valley...
A 3" lift with KDSS will work. It is easy enough that one person can do the entire install in the garage with hand tools. The issue with lift and KDSS becomes travel. When you lift the vehicle, you are burning the down travel that is there is stock form. If you are not doing anything more...
Good luck getting back there. It's still snowing up there, not sure if Spicer road is even open yet.
On Monday (4/10), they started working on plowing Hwy. 4, here is a photo of those efforts.
Will he lucky if Corral Hollow is passable by July. The snow is very deep and continuing to accumulate. Just for an idea how much snow is up there, this picture was a few weeks ago at the Bear Valley Village. The snow is on flat ground, so that's over 12 feet deep.

Not much, if any lift, is needed to fit 315's, but id does help. There are many different lifts, 2" to 3" would be plenty. Going a full 6" gets very expensive.
Where is the play in the steering? You may need to rebuild the knuckles with new bearings, shims, etc., to make sure everything is...
