    Switching tires

I have ran Cooper Stt Pros for the past four years in mud, snow, grass, gravel....they are the best I have found. One set lasts me two years also.

    Rig Photos

I use both my Jeep and my truck for trailing and overlanding. The Jeep set up is pictured here. I am still working on setting up the truck but it will be a truck bed tent with a drawer system below the tent. Pictures will follow as I complete it. I will be testing the truck tent out next week...

Who else brings a grill?-1 cooking device to rule them all!

Africa Originally popularized in Africa, the large wok-like disc known as a Skottle was traditionally used straight over a fire. Overland gear company TemboTusk adds the convenience of gas canister cooking to its portable model.

What's your latest camping gear purchase, and what caused you to buy it?

I generally do not use power when out wheeling or camping. I have a couple of inflatable solar lights for night time that last three to four nights easily, but can be recharged during the day by simply putting them on the dash while driving. To keep my phone charged I use my Milwaukee batteries...

What's your latest camping gear purchase, and what caused you to buy it?

My latest purchases have been a truck bed tent and a buddy heater which both will be getting used in about a week when I go out winter camping over Christmas break. Being in Western NY it gets cold...23 degrees right now. No more sleeping on the ground and I don't like the high cost of RTT. I...

Members with information/experience/interest in Pennsylvania State Forests for off pavement travel/dispersed camping

Kinzua dam and walkway are on my list for this coming year for sure. I will have to check out the web site and do some exploring. I have been to the Alleghent State Park several times, but that is not the type of what I'm looking for. This travel guide and info is most def what I want. Thank you.

    Cheap vs inexpensive

I've seen this go both ways. I have bought cheap/inexpensive stuff and had it last many years and continue to use it. At the same time I have seen it break the first use. But, the same can be said with very expensive top name brand stuff also. Just because it's cheap or expensive doesn't mean a...

Let's see those full size rigs - Trucks & SUV

My 2008 F250 SuperDuty I am setting up for overlanding. I have built a shelf system in the bed for storage that will be under the bed tent and queen mattress. When not in use, the tent folds down onto the mattress and I close the cover keeping everything dry and clean. Have only had the truck...

    Best jeep jk 2dr Kitchen

I'm doing the truck bed tent this time, made a drawer system for under the tent, put a real queen size mattress into the bed with the tent. Am as we speak, opening the tent and trying to figure it out for the first time. I think it's going to work good to stay off the ground but not a RTT, which...

    Best jeep jk 2dr Kitchen

I have done winter camping but not out of my Jeep or truck. I do plan on it this year with my truck, but by then I will have a small foldable table to use. Also, if possible I prefer to have a fire and cook over that....I just use the cooktop when needed.

Members with information/experience/interest in Pennsylvania State Forests for off pavement travel/dispersed camping

I am in the Southern Tier of Western NY....and seeing as there are about zero trails or anyplace to ride in NY, I have been looking into PA for trails and finding dirt. Nothing too serious....to do some camping and exploring. Have been to AOAA, and a few atv parks riding sxs but would like to do...

    almost undefeatable fire stater

Just about any chip that is fried in oil will work, also the dryer lint and cotton balls and egg carton bombs. Along with womens tampons, pull it apart and it starts easily. I carry several different ways to light a fire. A simple bic lighter is best unless it gets wet. A magnesium block and...

My kitchen set up....I like to keep it very simple and small. But this is also my solo camping set up. I will be adding a small table and a couple of portable fold up chairs to this.

Where did you install your OB emblem?

I have not received my badge yet as I just joined 12hrs ago, but when I do get it it will be going on the drivers side just under the SuperDuty enblem. And I may buy another badge to go on my Wrangler.

Hello everyone, new here but not to the overlanding experience. Have been doing it for years before I knew it was called overlanding, mostly because it's a cheap way to travel and see things but also I enjoy going places few have gone and being in nature. I'm in the Western NY area and there are...
