Same thing as the DC-10s just on a much smaller scale. Have a few friends flying lead planes and air attack. I'm flying a Citation Jet, much lower key and gets me home pretty much every night.
Yeah they are crazy. Had a job offer years back to for P2Vs out of Montana, but the extra risk and the crap schedule just didnt appeal to me. Lots of respect for those guys though.
Watched these guys in and out of San Bernadino last Thursday. Pretty awesome to watch. I'm glad it's been clearing up hopefully it's a lot better next time I come down.
I fly Citation Jets professionally. But have owned a Piper Pacer and spent a lot of last summer backcountry camping with the family in a cessna 180. It's very fun, reading and self study will save you a lot of money. And as silly as it sounds a good copy of flight simulator or Xplane truly helps.
Haha tell me about it... got my bachelors in aeronautical sciences... took a solid decade to pay off my school loans. Been a pilot for 18 years though and been absolutely worth every penny.
