Look at the terrain features of the map….. if the road is pretty much flat and a major road structure you can go several hundred miles.. if the road has lots of ups and downs, high elevation gains (and losses) a minor road system, you might get 20 miles… also experience comes into play… my...
I know this isn’t what you want to hear… but it depends…I have gone 4 miles in one day, and I’ve gone 1,000 miles in day… road conditions can (and are) ever changing in the back country. It’s easier to plan by time then by milage… if you can only go 5mph, it’s going to take you 20 hours to go...
Modern alternators put out 14.1 to 14.9 volts… a modern alternator is any alternator with an internal voltage regulator. If your alternator is putting out less than 13.8 volts you have a problem with either the voltage regulator, stator, or a ground issue.
I think he means “Dual Starters” as in dual starting batteries. Also as most non experienced electricians gets confused between parallel and series wiring… he has them wired in parallel meaning positive to positive and negative to negative.
When looking at a battery isolator, look for one...
You’re over thinking this… use the front seat mounts by taking a piece of 1/8” X 2” metal (steel or aluminum) flat bar the length between both seat mount bolts. Drill out the holes for the seat mounts, then add two extra holes for bolting your platform too.

No problem, that’s what I’m here for… also I know you’re part of a nice sized club there in eastern Washington, @David H is a member of a large club as well there in Boise, so you should be able to find lots of people to adventure with.
I hear you on the high cost of gas at the moment… gas...
One thing to think about when looking to move to the Boise area: Most of the counties around Boise and inside the Treasure Valley require vehicle emissions testing. So you need to look at what those requirements are. As of now, Ada County, Canyon County, and the City of Kuna are the only...
There is a lot to do around the Boise area… I’m looking to relocate there myself in the nearish future for the same reasons you mentioned. I’ll probably head more towards Caldwell/Napa area, or to Garden City.
At the end of the video you show the wire hider not going flush with the cowl, the solution…. Remove the cowl and cut about 2 inches lower and run the wires under the vowel.
Check out SW Idaho Overlanding on YouTube. George @GHCOE does most of his videos near Boise, as that is where he is from. As @David C Gibbs said, there are lots of places to camp. Are you visiting Boise City, or just the area?
@pluton if an American LMTV max side angle is 30 degrees off camber by military specs and inconsistently drove it closer to 45 degrees without toppling over, I’m sure your 4 runner can match or exceed this limit.
