I somewhat recently put Toyo Open Country A/T IIIs in 255/80R17 on my Tacoma and I've been really happy with them. They ride smooth and are quiet on the highway. I was concerned about putting E rated tires on the truck but so far it has not been an issue, though since it's winter I haven't had...
As noted above you want to size a kinetic rope/strap based on the weight of the vehicles you'll be recovering. ASR Offroad has a good chart showing recommended sizes.

I just upgraded my 20 year old well-used 3"x30' strap to a 7/8"x20'...
I have pretty much the same setup as Jim. 3 Plano totes: kitchen, camp, and sleeping gear. The totes have DIY gaskets to keep out dirt and moisture.
After I take the sleeping gear out of the one tote I leave it outside the tent and we stick our shoes in there at night so they don't get dirt in...
I just ran into this issue about 20 minutes ago. After opening about 5 pages in new tabs the next page load spun for a while and then I received a "This site can't be reached" error because the site too too long to respond. A few minutes later when I tried to visit the site I saw a "Access...
+1 to welding on a nut, but if you don't have a welder is the bolt's head thick enough that you could grind to sides flat (and parallel) and use an adjustable wrench on it? Heat and/or liquid wrench would help.
I've also experienced this issue many times in the past, though not recently (in the last month or so). Like the OP I tend to visit the "New posts" page and then open the posts in separate tabs so I can read them without having to click back to the "New posts" page and losing my place. This...
I'm curious about the snatch block and tree saver since these are almost always used with a winch, are you planning to add one in the near future? If not, these might not be worth the cost or weight.
Do you usually go by yourself, or with one or more other vehicles? Given the items on your list...
In my opinion these are...
1) A way to transport enough water for everyone in your vehicle, plus extra
2) A navigation device, and knowledge of how to use it
3) Good tires, including a full size spare and working jack
The original post in this thread is over a year old, but does anybody else find it surprising that Dometic seemingly referred a customer in the US to a graph using metric wire gauges and lengths? Given their expansion into the US market I'd hope they now also provide a graph using AWG and feet...
You've probably already consulted a 12v wiring chart, but here is one just in case. This chart assumes pure copper wires (not CCA) with a wire insulation rating of 105°C. You then need to decide if you want a maximum 10% or 3% voltage drop and how long your wire run will be before you can look...
200A is quite a lot of power, and the cable size required to support that would be expensive and heavy, so my first question is do you really need that kind of amperage capacity. :)
1) Is the plan to put a second battery in the camper? If so, how do you plan to charge it? If charging off the...
I've been trying out a pair of Xero shoes and really like them. They are minimalist shoes with zero drop and little padding under the foot, so it can take a while to get used to them , but if you want to build up foot strength these can help.
Out of curiosity, has anybody on here ever actually had bears (or other animals) get into their food or trash in the Sierras? We are always careful to clean up around camp to minimize smells, and we don't bring scented items like food or toothpaste into the tent. That said, we often leave the...
