If I were going on a major overlanding trip (say... a year in Africa, or down through South America) I'd definitely get the MaxTrax. I think of them as the gold-standard for traction boards. But since I'm more of a weekend-warrior, married & with a daughter still in college, I went with the...
This is the brake controller I'm using with my little trailer - a Tekonsha Prodigy P3. I have three vehicles wired for using this brake controller (96 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4, 98 Jeep TJ, and 46 Willys CJ2A):

I just move it from...
I've had mine for about 4-5 years now (see pics in post #4 above), and have slept in it probably close to 50 times so far. I've literally crisscrossed the country with it, been up to Canada more than once, and recently came back from a week-long overlanding trip running the WABDR. So I've...
Cabela's double sized tent-cot on my little trailer. Has worked out well. I removed the outer legs, and had a custom cover made for the tent-cot. To get in, you step on the little
fold-down step (seen by the ammo can), then up on the cooler, and then into the tent.
I put them on my little trailer that gets pulled by a Pinto powered Willys CJ2A, and a four-cylinder Jeep TJ. I think it especially helps the Willys when trying to stop. I'm using the 7-pin wiring set-up on all my vehicles, but this one also allows you to use a flat-four pin harness if that's...
Ok; we're about six-weeks out. Who's still planning on going on the Old-School run? If you need to drop out, please don't wait till the last minute to tell me (or just not show up on the start date). Thanks.
I'm finishing up the repairs to the trailer damage from the last run. Frame is...
Getting the trailer back together. Have very few interested in doing the WABDR Old-School run in September, but I'll have the trailer ready by then.
I'm getting famous:

Wish I could go, but for a multitude of reasons I can't (work being the main one). But please, keep sending me invites for trips like this - sometimes I'm like "Oh heck yeah; I'm doing this one".
Thanks for your interest. If you go to the beginning on page 1 and read through the first half-dozen posts they will tell you everything you need to know.
So we're about two months out from "Wheel's Rolling", and here are the folks that have expressed an interest in going so far:
Old School Vehicles:
armyRN (oh wait; that's me)
shortbus4x4
Support Vehicles:
DIYTaco15
Did I mess anyone? Looks like we've got three so far.
I posted this on one...
Getting the trailer back together for the Old-School run - it took a beating pre-running the WABDR. Replacement leaf springs are in place (4-leaf vs previous 3-leaf). New trailer shocks arrived today (one of the old ones was blown - don't know if from this past trip or a previous trip)...
That's wild - they won't replace a sensor, so instead they're putting in a whole new axle.
So here's a picture of the old 3-leaf spring (with the bottom leaf cracked and getting ready to break) and the new 4-leaf pack. New springs are on the trailer (bottom picture).
I'm still thinking the...
You missed a good time on the Overlanding Adventure East 2019. Too much time was taken with photo ops though, and not enough actual overlanding. But it ended at the Overland Expo East, and we were somehow considered vendors so we got discounts on purchases. And the Expo itself was fun.
So...
Thanks for the kind words. It seemed like everyone played very nicely together on this trip. Yeah; somehow I did curse myself on this trip. I got a slow leak in a tire the second day (so I was running on my spare the rest of the trip), and the broken trailer leaf spring on the last day...
