    Jeep Wrangler Gun Rack

People and guns... My rack is removable... because I only use it for long offroad excursions where the potential to run across unsavory people is high (New Mexico and Arizona methamphetamine mobile labs and illegals) or places like the Beartooth mountains or my upcoming trip along the Dalton...

    Looking for Grand Canyon Advice

North Rim doesn't open until early spring. South rim will probably be inaccessible soon too due to Covid shutdowns. Accessing any reservation land will be a challenge for the foreseeable future as Covid has many, many roads into and out of res land, closed. All of New Mexico reservations ae...

Too Much Information will destroy what we do.

This for me, is kinda missing the point. Once I find something, I enjoy sharing it with people. People that I know will appreciate it, not some kind of blog, website, podcast, YouTube channel (all better known as Braggartry). Overlanding for me isn't overlanding. Its a means to an end that...

Dana 44 front & rear tubes DIFFERENT?

Yes, if you reagear or need to repair, do your research and order for your specific rig, year, model, sub model. Even D44 LSD's and lockers can change everything in the front. Rears are a lot more straight forward.

When NM was on lockdown over Fathers Day weekend, we went to Taos Mountain for 5 days. The mountain itself was easily accessible. The mountain village had two places open - grocery and the cantina. It was in Aroyo Seca between Taos proper and the mountain where it was interesting. It was packed...

In addition, bring everything you need with you. NM is on lock down again and local PD's likes to pull out of state plate vehicles over to find out what they are doing, quarantining, etc. Especially reservation PD. We are going to NM next week to disperse yurt/camp and will bring everything with...

Routes, trails, camp sites, resources and knowledge help for upcoming cross country trip - Summer 2021

Pretty vague description for Az and Ut since they are so big. What kind of rig? Dispersed or campground? Do you have a preferred loop of travel? In short, you can never go wrong with: Arizona Flagstaff and San Francisco Peaks which is about an hour south of Grand Canyon south rim. Mongollon...

    Beartooth Pass

Beartooth is pretty amazing. Here are some pics form 2018 coming out of Yellowstone NE entrance, Cooke City to Clay Butte, WY and then to Beartooth. Two days after I camped up there, there was a group of hikers who had a close encounter with two bears. They were separated at the time of the...

For those who have never been to Carlsbad cavern, going near White City, or not sure if it is worth the stop.

NM is in lockdown essentially, again. We are going to a yurt next week outside ALBQ in Estancia but it is remote and isolated. I plan on doing Carlsbad in February, so I hope they are back open again. Caverns I get why they close it, but other NP's? I don't get. Outdoors. Dispersed. Nanny state...

    Change wheels?

My $0.02. Not knowing what rotors/calipers are on your rig, if all things were equal, there are FAR more options in 17" tires and they are less expensive compared to 18's and 20's due to the overall competition. I run the Kenda Klever 35/10.5/17", essentially a 10.5" wide 34" tire instead of...

    JK/JKU tire carrier Rotopax Mount

In my quest to remove fuel and water off my roof rack, I found a universal plate from Rotopax and modified it to work with my Smittybilt tire carrier. Pretty simple really. https://rotopax.com/universal-mounting-plate.html?category_id=7 I drilled 3 holes in the center for the 5x5 lug pattern...

You are really limited when it comes to having a soft top. I love having a roof rack so I can keep my interior reasonably empty for my dogs. In a perfect world I'd have a Goose Gear platform and a DeepSleep mattress. https://www.goose-gear.com/collections/all https://www.deepsleep4jeeps.com/...
