    Significant Other

I'm one the lucky ones. The jeep or triumph dual sport moves, and she is onboard, ready for the next adventure, so I never go without her. We just got the smittybilt trailer setup (we had a class A motor home, and we both prefer the smittybilt trailer), and since we spend the week of...

    Tire inflator/deflator

I put an arb compressor under the hood, and the compressor came with a hose and quick disconnect end that clams on the valve stem. After using my tire deflaters on several trips, I now just use the quick disconnect end yhat I got with the arb. You can check the air pressure with a standard...

    Smittybilt Overland Trailer

Forgot to post pictures of my jack modification. Started by drilling a second hole in the two jack mounts. Switch sides so the mounts are upside down, and mount the jacks upside down. Use velcro to keep the handles from hanging down.

    Smittybilt Overland Trailer

You will love it. We took a 5 day trip in ours, and it was better than expected. You will have fun hetting it ready. Here are some of my modifications: - I installed a 13 gallon water tank on the shelf in the kitchen box. The tank has a filler neck Added two shallow plastic containers on...

    Questions on water usage

We can make 17 gallons last a couple of weeks for two people, as we are usually filtering water from creeks to drink when we are away from camp in the Jeep (we filter water using an MSR water filter into empty water bottles, usually 6 at a time), so that cuts down on consumption. We also use...

    Questions on water usage

i start with 17 gallons and carry a water filter to filter drinking water if we run dry. we boil water to refill to 13 gallon tank, and can always fill up the two 2 gallon rotopax water tanks if we see a place with potable water. most don't camp like my wife and I, as we go far from people...

Cooke City, Montana - Goose Creek Trail

living in the northwest, we have a lot of opportunities to overland point-to-point over long distances...just need the fires to end so we can get back into the forest.

Cooke City, Montana - Goose Creek Trail

My wife and I spent labor day weekend at 10,000 feet elevation in the Beartooth Mountains north of Yellowstone. Lots of Grizzlies in that area, so no tents allowed in any forest service campground, so we camped in the forest...I guess Grizzlies don't roam the forest, just the campgrounds. This...

    light bar glare

Hated my windshield light bar. Cut it down and made a shorter bar for bumper. Plenty of light, no glare, no wimd noise.

    Jeep Owners Represent!

IMHO, the CJ7 was the best platform of all the CJs. ironically, when they were introduced, they were seen as a red headed step child to the CJ5. I had one with the V8 and auto, and it was a great rig. Didn't know what I had until later in life...

Adventure Trailers Habitat - Looking for Recommendations

I agree with your concern on the ladder and falling. I found on the smittybilt trailer and RTT I just got that the ladder isn't designed to put the tent low on the top of the trailer. So, I lined up the ladder rungs and drilled a new hole for the catch. I built a couple of feet out of 12 inch...

    New vs Used

Don't get in too deep on anything with payments, house, vehicle, anything, as it takes the fun out of the experience. I have always bought used, fixed the rig up, and then sold them when we needed a extra money in the budget, and I have taken my old rigs on long overland trips and always made...

    Camp Stove

Off topic, but I'm never without phosphoric steel and a knife, and haven't used a lighter in years. I use tree sap mixed with pine needles and roll into a little log. Cut off a slice and you have a fire in seconds. When riding the dual sport, I carry a zip lock bag that contains cotton rounds...
