Tough one. I'm a Northern kind of person though. I'm contemplating plotting a route up along Lake Michigan and stopping at the light houses and photographing them, as well as the old forts and such along the lake shore. Otherwise, a trip to the Ozarks and a little trail riding on one of the Jeep...
Sounds like a couple awesome trips planned. I put a roof rack on my JKU for additional space, but use it sparingly. Mostly light stuff. Eventually would like to build/buy a trailer and put an RTT on top of it. Sounds like you have your work cut out for you. Start a build thread if you're...
Cool. Mines not trail rated but it's fwd with 4wd selection lever. I don't plan on doing anything crazy, just want to be able to access some off road trails that aren't too challenging.
On the Jeep forums, Old Man Emu and Rubicon Express seem pretty popular. But I've no experience with either of them. May want to post on one of the Jeep forums for a lot more insight. Sorry I'm not much help.
Welcome to the forum. Superior National Forest is my kind of place. I lived in Phoenix for several years so I've no desire to head West. We generally make a trip to Northern Michigan each year. If money were no object I'd have a place up North somewhere. What vehicle do you have for overlanding?
Good build so far. Any issues yet running 35's on the Dana 30 front axle? I had mine sleeved and gusseted in anticipation of running 35's, but ended up deciding to stay on 33's for overlanding.
How do you like the Patriot? Our Grand Cherokee was giving us a lot of trouble so we traded it in for a 2016 Patriot High Altitude. Going from a v8 to a 4 cylinder is a big difference, as well as not having the Quadra Drive II system. But so far it's been good scooting around town. Haven't taken...
I work on everything except engines and chassis. With your mechanical skills, it won't be too hard for you to maintain your home on the road. And being a mechanic, I can't imagine it would be very hard for you to find work. @stringtwelve did an amazing job remodeling his 5th wheel. Check out his...
Well, I already did redo it. I originally went with a 2" budget boost when I first bought my Wrangler. A few months ago I finally replaced it with a 3" Zone Lift. Also had my front Dana 30 sleeved and gusseted so I can eventually get rid of my 33's and put 35's on it. If a person is "mall...
My wife and I are planning on doing it in a couple years if all goes well. I left my "babysitting" job in manufacturing a little over a year ago to go to work for an RV dealer as a technician. They paid for my training and certifications. Now I can go anywhere in the country and get a job really...
