We've used a CB for many years but now the trend with the groups we go out with is GMRS. I think having both, for a while at least, is good practice. We're in the process of doing a custom install of a Midland MXT275 and 6db antenna in our 4Runner. The video will probably be available in a...
We're installing the Midland MXT275 and 6d antenna as we speak. It's been highly recommended to us from people we trust.
We'll be producing a video on its install, and test against our CB.
One of our goals is to put together and lead a week long overland event. Probably in the NE, WY, and SD area. We're bouncing around the thought of keeping the next day's route secret until the morning of. Might be fun.
Build on our YouTube channel more. In particular our trip playlist and...
We have a farm supply store nearby. They have premade air hoses in a wide selection of lengths and end connections. We recommend staying away from any rigid plastic, or any plastic tubing. Hose and fittings rated at or above 200psi.
It's great to see you being honest with yourself on what your intentions are with your build. That's very rare.
We've been building and using the heck out of the newer Toyota platform for many years. Here's what we've learned in regard to your questions:
* Great to see you don't have KDSS...
That's a cool idea! Maybe a two way toggle switch, front and back. Do you remember where you found the hack for the mod? I think this is worth looking into. Probably a video too. :)
We just finished up another storage drawer system yesterday! This one isn't near as elaborate as our last, but is super easy and inexpensive to build. Can't wait to put "stuff" in it.
If you're interested, we produced a detailed video of its construction.
In our opinion, a well thought out kitchen area is maybe the best thing you can do for your vehicle of choice. It makes many tasks, and storage, far more efficient.
If it's easy, you'll do it more often.
Although we have no hands-on experience with it, the Adventurous Kitchen looks like a winner.
We have, and have had, many tents over the last 30+ years. But one has earned a special place in our hearts. It's heavy, difficult to set up, and takes a bunch of lines and stakes. For our longer trips where bulk is held down to a minimum, or trips in the deserts or mountains where the ground is...
Often when we're offroad or on a 4L trail we have difficulty seeing over the hood to see what's over a drop/ hill, or exactly where that rock is we need to line up on.
We want to install a front facing camera and would greatly appreciate your suggestions if you have any experience with them...
Soon, very soon. We're going out this weekend to film a couple cooking videos and one where we do a "walk around" of one of our tents.
Thanks for watching!
We've been using Mike's front "sliding disconnects" on our FJ Cruiser for years and love how the ride and articulation is improved while offroad.
Here's a short video we produced of the install:
NICE!
We have one in our FJ and love how convenient it is.
One tip: take out each bolt holding the table on and put a small drop of blue Loc-Tite on them. They tend to loosen with the vibration.
Unfortunately Northern Illinois and Southern Wisconsin have very little to offer, other than a few nice State Parks. However, 4 hours will get you to the National Forests of Northern Wisconsin. 5-6 hours will get you to Michigan's AWESOME U.P. 7-8 hours drive will get you to one of our...
