[emoji50]. Here’s a fun Thought for people to weigh in on... locate the diff breathers, tranny, and transfer case breathers before hand.
1. Drive up to the hole
2. Hop out and put vice grips on each suspect line pinching it closed
3. cable tie the grips to something sturdy
4. Drive Through...
Funny story. Many moons ago when I was young and foolish I was bush camping in the wilds of western Alberta when it rained. And rained. And rained. On the way out, I had to contend with a creek that had jumped the road.
I’m in a 2 wheel drive 87 Chevy, and with a ton of people so we went for...
I wheel with a guy that extended the controller plug into the cab of his truck. He could just plug in the stock controller inside and use the controller, or lay the cable across the hood and run the winch from the front too if he had to.
I loved it. The topper never leaked and I had plenty of room (old Chevy with an 8' box). The topper Never leaked, and I had sliding windows in the side for fresh air. In town the topper locked up and kept everything safe. I wouldn't hesitate to do it again.
I have to say, this was probably the best trail I've run in Alberta. It's exactly what I built my truck for. Water, hills, creeks, mud, no muskeg, but plenty of challenges. I'm definitely going back. Reminds me a lot of Whipsaw... Only longer & closer to home.
#1, I've never tried. The only drawback that I could imagine is that when you arrive at destination, everything has to come out and be outside/around and under the truck overnight. In critter country things will try to get into other things... having said that I love the price and simplicity and...
I use a valve stem extender and remove the valve from it for airing down. As the tire airs down a pressure gauge still works on the stem. When you hit the right pressure just screw it off.
I do a little bit, in edmonton Alberta here. Not a lot of changes. I pack my tire chains in case I need them. I also throw a tent heater in for the tent.
Other than that the winter is great for exploring. The muskeg freezes and you drive most anywhere.
Yes. That's 8 - 4" screws through the 2x6 and into the rafter. That's plenty to hold a hard top that only weighs a couple hundred pounds.
The one in this photo is holding my roof top tent. I used that photo because it was handy. The hard top lift is identical (I'm just too lazy to take it down...
You can mark it with the stud finder then drill a pilot hole. Makes screwing in the hooks easier.
With mine, the studs didn't line up with where I wanted to put the eyelets. So I took a 2x6 and put it across the studs. Screw the 2x6 to the studs then the eyelet into the 2x6.
I use a princess auto special. Fairly simple and I like how it locks the tire in.
