Where are you looking to camp? In Banff National Park, Jasper National Park, or a provincial park? If you're on crown land you can always bush camp, or dispersed camp as some call it.
I had KO2’s and they were awesome on the trail. Great side lugs and held in the slippery ruts great.
I couldn’t keep them balanced though and they howled like a banshee at half their life. I couldn’t wait to get rid of them. Partially my fault tho. I don’t think I rotated them enough.

It is pretty cool. The mine is the French mine above Hedley, BC (canada) and the railroad is the kettle valley railway in the same area. The railroad you can drive for days all around the area. Lots of trails to explore.
I did not get to this year. I had a trip planned but it fell through. Last time I was in there was fall of 2017... I think. Gorgeous trail & well worth it, but it's a long one.
Go to “marks work warehouse” and go on a shopping spree. They’ll set you up with rugged warm clothes.
And think in layers. As you warm up with physical activity you can shed a layer.
