I went by my Ace on the way home and they sell the 3M stuff by the foot, $2.99/ft. Score!!! I now have four treads on my sliders. Thank you everyone for the ideas!
So, NZ4runner, what's next for your rig??
I need to put grip tape on my sliders. Out of curiosity, where'd you guys find grip tape? I was going to go to a skate shop, but I'm not sure that stuff is heavy duty enough...
Bought some Squadron Pro lights an the mount kit for a 5th Gen from Baja Designs. A few others have made the kit work on their 4th gens, so I'm giving it a shot. Next up will be a roof rack, probably a Rola since I spent all my money on the lights! :tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy:
HAHAHA!! That's awesome. I was trying to describe a Skottle to my wife but kept saying "Skittles" instead. We decided I should buy a Skottle and paint Skittles on it using engine paint... (we were really tired)
The Adventure Pass is for parking in National Forrest areas. Technically...
Down by DeAnza Cove is a really nice area and you'd be very close to Pacific Beach. There is also a cheap campground called Campland on the Bay. That whole area is only 10 min or so from my house, so let me know if you need anything.

Hey Chris, Like I said in your thread about San Diego, sorry we didn't actually meet this morning in Julian. Welcome to OB and check out the San Diego post in the regional forum. Lots of people from San Diego on here.
Cheers!
Hey, just saw you at breakfast in Julian at Grandma's. My wife and I had just dropped off our kid at camp for 3 weeks. I have the silver 4Runner that was parked in front. Nice looking Jeep! I would have said Hi but I haven't seen my wife in a week so she probably wouldn't have appreciated me...
Question for those with fridges: Do you keep them hooked up all the time, or just on trips? I would think the battery would be a lot happier if it wasn't always hooked up.
Quoting this so I can remember/find it when I get home.
Also, 1Louder is sooooo right on that. Stuff can and will break. It will. Half the adventure is fixing shit that breaks. I know some of my best stories involving breaking things and the McGyver fixes that got my out/home.
Well, sounds like you're S.O.L. then. The TRD package started with the 2010 model year, i.e. 5th Gen.
If I were starting over again, I would look for a V8 4th Gen. and get the newest and most low-mileage one I could find/afford. That said, I love my 2006 V6 Sport Edition 4WD.
So, where's a link to the 4Runner thread?
Sorry to hear the Rover isn't going to happen for this trip, but I think you're making the right decision. We only get so much time for trips/vacations. That's gotta take priority.
I have an ARB 2000 that I bought from another OB member. To me, the 2000 is the perfect length for a 4th Gen 4Runner (probably 5th Gen. too) since it's just about as long as the roof. I didn't want it to overhang. I have the Sport Edition with it's round roof rack so I got the FourTreks...
