    The Dreaded Blister

I do a great deal of hiking, often on my overland trips. I use smart wool socks always. The ones by Darn Tough are bomb proof and they replace them if you ever wear them out. Wool fibers don't hold moisture. If your feet are sweating bad just change to your spare pair every so often. Your...

Your most rewarding campsite experience ever

Looks like Point Sublime to me. If so that is an amazing spot. Been there and will likely go back.

    Ram Mount Ideas?

Any idea if there is a bar like that for 4Runners?

    Salt, fat, acid & heat

Enjoyed it. That girl knows how to eat!! Definitely made me a better cook.

What is your favorite nonessential rig add-on?

The drop down tables on my CBI rear bumper. Makes a great lunch prep table and work space.

    Your bucketlist destinations

Tuk, Australia, Galapagos Islands (even though you can't drive on them), and as many nights under the stars in Utah as I can get

Searching for Rock Art in the Southwest

The entire Southwest is loaded with them. These are a sampling of the hundreds I hit on Cedar Mesa and along Comb Ridge in southern Utah this year.

    US West Mojave Road 12/22/18-12/25/18

Hardly and expert since I've only run it once. The bypass is Cedar Canyon Road. If approaching from the east, Cedar Canyon will merge from the south with the Mojave about a half mile prior to the short steep section descending into Watson Wash. Cedar Canyon Road then splits off to the north...

    2016 4Runner Trail

I plan to replace my Gobi rack at some point. I haven't had any issues with it, but permanently mounting stuff on it is difficult. You can't get your hand or tools under it to attach bolts to secure things to the rack. So when I change the layout of items on my roof the rack has to be taken...

    2016 4Runner Trail

Congrats on the 4Runner! I have that exact year, model, even color. So far I am more than happy with it. Most of my build has worked out well. About 3 things I'd change if I could. Looking forward to seeing your build.

    Using a Yeti backwards.

Greatest invention known to mankind. It keeps the hot stuff hot and the cold stuff cold. But how do it know? (Yep, a very old joke.)

    Portable Jump Pack?

I've had two of the AntiGravity jumpers. Both had battery swelling issues which makes them completely unsafe. The first one got a free replacement, but not the second. Don't waste your money. Great idea, poor execution. Currently running a FPZLink bought off Amazon. So far so good.

    Entertainment?

Because of my work schedule I often do my trips solo. Some alone time is a great antidote to the noise and craziness at work. The trips are getting longer, some approaching a month. Solo trips keep you pretty busy since you are doing everything yourself, no one to share the workload...

    Ghost towns in Arizona

Arizona Highways just had an edition dedicated to AZ ghost towns with a pretty extensive list. You can try finding a copy.

Why is it that when your traveling in a group your the only one setting up and breaking down

I've been told by plenty of people to never travel alone. But I've never been told that by anyone who has.

Post a pic, make a new photo challenge!

Solo Mojave Road run. Completed yesterday. Next challenge -- photo of you recovering another rig.

    Rig Photos

Mojave Trail, my first trip, completed yesterday, did it solo. The 4Runner did great.

    Tracking an overlanding trip

The Garmin InReach can record your track, send it to others so they can watch your progress real time, and you can download it when you get home. Oh, and you can send text messages/emails when you don't have cell coverage, get the local weather forecast, bluetooths its gps to your...

Who's doing a Mojave Rd trip?

Planning on an east to west solo run, my first, starting 5 November, weather permitting of course. Is the east end detour still in effect?

    Burr trail, Utah

No dispersed camping inside the National Park boundary, but outside is fair game. The boundaries are well marked. There are numerous side roads that will have opportunities for dispersed camping. I use Google Maps satellite view or Google Earth to pick out some possible camp locations...
