There’s a few 2 barrel stand alone EFI kits on the market now that don’t break the bank and are super easy to install and make just a world of difference in drivability on a old I-6.
I should add the main reasons I did it on my suburban is the factory 1 pot injectors would leakdown when the vehicle sat so if you turned it off for 45 min or so it would smell horribly rich when you started it back up and it had a inconsistent idle . I wouldn’t of bothered if it didn’t have...
Back in the day I had a BB suburban and switched it from 1 to 4 hole and the difference was very noticeable. Picked up 3mpg , off idle slow acceleration was greatly improved as was towing performance . I’m sure a rebuilt set of stock injectors would have done almost the same thing but I do...
Been running DC trail country exp on my xterra in a 315/75r16 and they have held their own quite well in bumper deep snow ,fairly quiet for as aggressive as they are and as a bonus they are very light but still quite stiff I run them at 26psi on the street , 12-15 general off-road and 9 psi in...
Also if you get stuck on a closed road you could face fines and give more reasons for roads to be closed for even more of the year or closed altogether . If you wanna play in the snow there’s lots of forest service roads still open with tons of snow on them , just went up a couple weeks ago way...
The first 2 sections of the wbdr are mostly just gravel roads , nothing to challenging so would be a great choice for some older rigs to slowly cruise along and enjoy the drive .
Another great part about living in the PNW , no rust on bolts . Replaced the struts so I put a set of adjustable lower control arm bolts in . Took about 5 more min a side , nice when things just come apart nice and easy with no big hammer needed .
Getting a old willys wagon is a goal for me in the next couple years , I’m really tired of traction control , abs ,stability management ect ect . I would probably swap in a self learning efi setup but there is just something so nice about old iron and feeling connected to the road .
Granted I’ve only been on the first 3 sections but you would have to work rather hard to get off track of you have the butler maps , but after you come down off bethel ridge and through what felt like the longest big rock gravel road ever ( I was in a stock 92 4 runner with all season tires so...
The xterra has quite a big wheel opening , I run 35s on 2” of lift and only have a slight rub at full lock but managed to keep my tires inside my fenders . Can’t remember the offset but it’s in my build thread somewhere
