    RTT AC

@lhoffm4, I'm sure this is really directed at the OP but, for me, 68-degF is a perfect sleeping temperature. My friends and I used to do an annual trip to the beach for camping and fishing and it could get mighty humid at night. Nothing worse than waking up wet.

Activating new and old members - you can make make the difference

Thanks for posting the pictures! Motivation and enthusiasm are addictive qualities that definitely need a spark, internal or external. Glad y'all were able to get out and group up. Also, I think this is the first time I've seen a pet rabbit on a leash. That is awesome haha Looks like y'all had...

Hey sorry to hear about the family member loss. It's never easy. Sometimes a refresh of your surroundings which it sounds like you're in the middle of is just what people need to turn the next chapter and move forward. Here's to putting one step in front of another and embracing each new day...

Off road-ability and survivability of $20k teardrops

@TSL, this is what we keep coming back to too. My friend's family loves their Hiker tear-drop style trailer but there are limitations. It's no taller than their Bronco's roof line and is within its width as well. He says he doesn't even notice it while towing. Just another trade-off between the...

    First Time Poster!

Ours started off life as a used Lowes 4x6 utility trailer. You can see the build thread HERE. It's a great little trailer that I've update to better fit the demand of rough terrain travel. We like the RTT but when it was on the car roof, tear-down every day just to drive around got super old. So...

    First Time Poster!

Looks great! I have a buddy that used to have one and he wanted to put on those exact wheels. Love how the light bar is flush with the roof rack.

Welcome! Have any pics of your Outback?

    Hello from Wisconsin

What a cool bug! There is nothing better than there being a different car, place, and seasib that motivates you compared to everyone else. I would love to see how you've set the inside up!

Off road-ability and survivability of $20k teardrops

This is exactly why I won't buy one. What I don't have between my RTT trailer or my 10x10x10 easy-up ground tent are hard sides, easy wet teardown, and interior hangout space for the family in non-ideal weather conditions. So, I know what we need is a small trailer in the range of 16 foot...

    2018 Ford Raptor

I'm definitely a fan of stock bumper winch integration where possible. Especially if the stock bumper is a metal one like yours.

    Overland Expo West

To all those who have gone to Overland Expo West or others, what is the "exclusive hospitality lounge"? I saw it mentioned as another benefit of getting the "Premium" weekend camping pass. Is it worth jumping from the "General" to the "Premium" weekend camping pass?

    Big Bend/ Chisos Basin

Hey @Oldvolks I can help with this! So each campsite in Chisos Basin only allows really two vehicles. 1-car & 1-trailer. The campsite hosts luckily allowed us to keep both our trailers at one site with one vehicle. I had to park my Jeep ~100-yds or so up in the overflow parking lot. Here's a...

Lean or Full Family travel to Expos/Events

For those who have gone to Expos or other overland/off-roading/camping events, do you prefer to travel lean or with everyone in tow? As a disclaimer, I love my wife and kid (18-mo old) and would love for them to join me on any trip BUT it does come at a cost. Also, my wife and I have a no-kids...

Off road-ability and survivability of $20k teardrops

One of my buddies has a Hiker Trailer and their family of FOUR loves it. I think they spent somewhere around $15k for it brand new. Also I just saw this trailer posted in the manufactured trailer section. https://zionoffroad.com/basetrailer/

    Overpacking

I find this to be too true! We rarely travel that far off the beaten path so, in a reality, I know we pack too much. That being said, having a trailer and bins makes this much more forgiving. The extreme extras and spares stay in the lowest bins that are least accessible and you have plenty of...

    RTT AC

I'm curious about what options are other there. I just posted in the summer vs winter thread and my main complaint on summer is the lack of cool sleeping quarters. To anyone who knows, at what temperature are these swamp coolers really good up to? 80-deg? 90-deg? I assume these do NOT work in...

    Winter or Summer Exploration?

Between summer and winter, I have to say winter. You can always grab another blanket and you can always put on another coat BUT you can't easily stop sweating. I drove over to Big Bend last May from Houston. I left Houston around noon at 85-deg and arrived at camp, along the river (ele. 1900')...

That really is a great looking XJ! You have me wanting one kitted out just like yours was in the black bear pass picture.
