SlymerX - Titan Swapped 11' Xterra Build and 15' BMW R1200GS

"grind her till she fits...." Nice. I think 35's are the new 33's in the Nissan world..... Currently considering 35's myself... :grinning:

    The @nomorebaddays 2nd Gen Xterra

I run SPC upper arms on my Frontier, Quite happy with them. Having bushings and OEM style ball joints is a plus for me as mine is a daily driver.

    The @nomorebaddays 2nd Gen Xterra

Don't forget how easy it is to Titan swap the front suspension and get 10" or more of wheel travel using OEM style parts.....

    The @nomorebaddays 2nd Gen Xterra

Nice looking rig! Do you plan to upgrade the upper control arms at some point? The oem's are going to limit your wheel travel quite a bit.

Boot warmer/dryer to heat up a sleeping bag (anyone ever tried this?)

It's not the worst idea. Worst care, it doesn't work and you now have a boot dryer, which is always nice.

    Trying something different this winter

I run Duratracs for this reason. Has plenty of knobby for mud and deep snow, but has the siping for wet and packed snow and does reasonably well on road. Having the severe weather rating and a decent mud rating will always be the determining factor for me with tire choice for my truck. I live in...

    Overlanding with "stock" 4X4

To be honest, put proper tires on most 4wd vehicles and it will get you there. The rest is great and all, but, this reminds me of the last time I camped "way back" in the woods. Talked up this out and away spot to my wife, got all back in there, we round the last curve..... Honda Oddesy Minivan...

    Snow Travel

I'd like to add about chains is to make sure each fall you practice installing them a time or two. when it's cold AF and snowing is not the time to try to remember how they go on.

Keep safe when offroading - another tragedy in Western Australia

Both left the vehicle and went in opposite directions. Oof… That's never the way to do it.

    Land anchors

I've never even heard of this style. DO you have any more info on them?

Upgrading the main battery for fridge use; Odyssey VS generic AGM Deep cycle dual purpose marine battery

The thing to consider with an Oreiley's battery or an Odyssey is there is a good chance there is an Oreiley's nearby if you ever have issue and need to swap it out no matter where you are. That was my thinking when I swapped an Autozone gold AGM battery in to my truck. Amp hours, price and...

2011 Xterra low lift w35s build and adventures

I'm not sure why you are putting a winch, locker and sliders ahead of tires. The tires in the pic look to not really be up to the task.

2011 Xterra low lift w35s build and adventures

Yea, 35's is going to open up a whole can of worms. 285s, install an XTP intake spacer and call it good.

Electric blankets for cold weather camping

I've also got an inexpensive fleece bag liner that is good for a few more degrees of warmth.

Electric blankets for cold weather camping

I normally just use those hand warmer packs. If I wake up cold, I open one, toss it in the sack by my feet. Depending on the temp, 1-3 and I'm back asleep for the night.

Electric blankets for cold weather camping

This is a valuable bit of thought. You really won't need it all night most times. While my wife and I don't use it camping, we always have an electric blanket on our bed at home. usually, in the dead of winter, we crawl in, flip the blanket to low, let it warm the mattress and comforter as we...

    Come-along or winch?

MaxTrax would have been ideal, but, were ordered, but not delivered to me yet. I would have been able to self recover quickly had I had them. This area was a spot that was logged 2 years previous. It all looked to be firm ground, but there was a dip where it was mud covered by grass. 10 feet in...

    Come-along or winch?

I wouldn't go in. Alone and no sturdy winch point? Nope. use the bypass or turn around.

    Come-along or winch?

Keep in mind, any "winching" with a come along is going to be in the reverse direction and not forward, so, in theory, the forces involved are greatly reduced. This is where my comments of only needing a Nudge to get unstuck come from. I'll give my last stuck as an example. All I needed was to...

    Another Subaru Build Thread

What PSI are you running your tires at? Have you done the chalk test to figure out what pressure you actually need? More then one handling / ride issue has been as simple as too much tire pressure.
