Here are some recent pics of the setup and features that I've used for quite a while now.
The awning rail is in the "UP" position, during travel it sits at the same height as the tent.
The mini-bike adds a lot of fun at camp, but it's meant to carry bigger bikes for sure.
I'll be attending from Friday to Saturday (bailing out Sunday AM). I'm joining some Toyota R&D engineers and staff in a 'field trip' of sorts, driving down some vehicles from Michigan, so I will have separate accommodations, but I really look forward to meeting as many of you as possible. I'll...
Howdy, I think you'll see a lot of this advice on this forum, and that is... when you get your vehicle, go out and use it before you spend a lot of money on it!
That way, you'll know what you want to improve first, and the best place to spend your hard-earned $$.
Tires are always a good...
Are you asking for ideas how to do this in Sketch-Up? if so, maybe state what feedback you need, otherwise I'm not sure what you need feedback on.
You have some great ideas, inside shower, in/out kitchen, i'd be interested to see how it goes.
I have a trailer, it has certainly changed the way I...
Yeah, I've driven that route many times, I avoid Sunday like the plague unless I can get through Vegas no later than 9AM.
But on any kind of a holiday, I'll add an extra vacation day just to avoid the end of a weekend.
Why don't those rich hotel owners put in a commuter train from LA to Vegas...
Yeah, based on @TOMB 's recommendation, it would work if you decided what of those things you would want to see and then divert off highway specifically to see those things.
If you pass through Baker, you could easily drop down Kelbaker road to drive up and see the Lava tube, and then continue...
What a difference from last year. I guess I would rather have too much than not enough, but I know the runoff is also likely to create problems as well.
Thanks for posting this up, it's a popular area, better to know before you go.
HI Mike, You're right, if you went straight through, you'd have enough, I've done that a couple times. Difference is, I have an aux tank and I don't think about it much. My only experience for gas consumption is what others with only stock tanks have on hand, and they have dropped in an extra 5...
Ive had the same experience with the rangers, they seem to rely on reports from users for their own trail reports.
We were there last week, it was in great shape, very little water except in Afton Canyon and the last water crossing.
That was as deep as it ever gets, completely passable, but...
Trash vs. Art... It's all rusty metal in the desert!
A couple of sculptures out in Anza Borrego State Park --> very popular stop for tourists. Art? probably.
Metal / tin cans left by previous inhabitants of Death Valley Mine out off of the Mojave Road. Art? Maybe not, but if someone...
@old_man to what do you attribute that failure? Was the ring/pinion aftermarket or just old original stuff?
It's hard to think that you were abusing it, was it a sudden change in torque that broke it? Or just that it finally went?
Nice limp to safety, thank you for being prepared.
It's hard to...
Exhaust system failure - '95 FZJ80
Alright, I looked for some pictures of this one, but I was the one doing the work so I realized they aren't on my camera.
I'll add if I can find them but they're not too exciting.
We were on the Mojave Road doing a pre-run for the Spring trip in 2017.
I...
I'd be interested to hear about some of the break-downs on the trail, and how you got home, one way or another.
1. Fixed it, continued on like nothing happened
2. Left the truck to get the necessary parts/tools, had to come back to fix it
3. Called help, or dragged it out on a rope and got home...
I do run different pressures front and rear, especially when towing my small trailer.
Usually 45 psi front and 54 psi rear, I typically follow the 4psi rule* using tire pressure monitors so I can see how they're doing.
I have a quick-disconnect on the front and rear bumpers, i have two separate...
Sorry, I don't know RTP...
However, you could try and put something together with OLB members local to you by using the Rally Point feature and find a place that would be suitable to do that type of work.
My experience is that it takes some specific tools that you would want to gather together...
I'm not directly affiliated with Badlands Offroad training, but they are sponsoring a 2-day training class at the end of March and have some space remaining.
Here is a link to their site and some particulars if you have the time and inclination to be further prepared.
Badlands Offroad...
