I did a 1990 Landcruiser 62 series several years ago (2012!), and I was happy with it.
I subsequently sold it, but he lived down the street from me for a long time, now moved.
The main effort is in the prep. It took me 3-4 hours a night for a week to get it prepped, not including a few small...
If you're following along on my Instagram feed (and why wouldn't you be? :tonguewink:), You've seen the latest mods for the trailer.
This time in the form of electrical work. I have done most of the cabinetry, still need to put on a finish, but I'm anxious to get the electrical sorted so I can...
@ArkansasDon nice trailer build, well done! I especially like the color! :sunglasses::sunglasses:
What brand of 2-stage texture coat did you spray on?
Have fun with that, I'm sure enjoying mine.
Dan.
Yeah, if you don't have an ongoing need for one, they are pricey. Buy a decent battery with a warranty and see if you can make it outlast it's warranty.

If you have or know anyone with an Optima charger, I have seen those recover batteries that were severely discharged, and they profess they are better at that than any other charger.
We use those exclusively now for all of our 12volt batteries that we use to power test equipment.

I'm about ready to pull the trigger on my trailer battery as well.
I did some calling around, checking specs one against the other (some people call it research, I think it's short of that!).
I came to the conclusion that the Full River Battery is probably the best bang-for-the-buck battery I...
@H3Coyote Go Man Go! I love to see builds like this transpire!
Your energy is infective! I would love to see that diesel in there, I'm sure it will be plenty of power for you, but not sure it will be more reliable than the original GM powerplant (?) I thought that 5 cylinder engine was...
I originally blacked out a portion of my hood (on a white car) with Plasti-dip to try to see if that would help the glare.
The glare that I was getting was only from the sun, I don't have roof-mounted lights to worry about.
The flat/matte black helped quite a bit, even though only a portion of...
I've been following these guys on IG for a while, is there a local place to actually buy these or did you arrange purchase individually?
They have some great ideas and a great use of space, post up when you do any mods or show more details...

I really enjoyed this series, fun to see the successful conclusion.
Would have been great to be at the wrap party! [emoji513][emoji482][emoji509]
Two questions...
What's next? [emoji16]
...and can I go? [emoji2]⛰

Great reply Brenton, good advice to all users, new or otherwise.
Get familiar with it before you really need it. Practice in the driveway, get to know what it feels like and put these things into practice. Know where, on YOUR vehicle it will and won't work.
It's a dangerous but extremely useful...
Thanks @vegasjeepguy appreciate your comments. I looked carefully at yours during the build. You're close enough, it would be fun to get together and compare notes sometime.

@Paul Bearce, good to hear you've had the same experience. Justin was very helpful and he continues to be a good resource for the mods I've done.
Watch this space for a future walk-around video of my trailer as soon as I finish up the electrical portion and add the deep-cycle battery.

Sounds like the "jeep guy" needed to be sure that all within earshot knows that he doesn't consider FR's a "trail", and that the trails he takes are much harder and therefore he is much more of an "off-roader" than the Forest Road guy...
A trail is only semantics. A FR can be a trail. A gravel...
@Rubyredfozzy that is a great article and some really good discussion about the alternatives. My comments in that post were that I use both, but I'm Mr. Redundant guy. My go-to is the Puma compressor with a 1.5 gal tank. It would run air tools, but I don't. I have to wait too long to keep up...
That is 100% true and it doesn't get any easier with time or experience to end a good/bad trip and come home to normalcy.
I move much faster when I'm loading up the car than when I'm unpacking and putting things away.
