Here is the data I was referring to;
You can find more.
Richard, I will agree it is/was the incidents where the bear was "too" close that were failures of both options.
Interesting topic, recent studies find that firearms are around 80% effective at stopping bear attacks and bear spray 99% effective. Mainly due to the quickness the spray can be accessed and deployed effectively.
You do 150+ winch pulls in 2 years?!
On Youtube there are several off road recovery businesses posting recovery videos. For the last couple of years they have been using Badlands winches with no published failures with perhaps a dozen winches on 5-6 rigs. Though granted most recoveries are done...
I have a Rhino Rack Batwing 270. As far as shade I think it is great with maybe the low sun angle, however you can drop the legs some to get an incline. My biggest issue is how frelling flimsy the hinges are! I had 2 break when first opening it in the desert and it wasn't even windy. I have made...
I have a motorcycle with 2 Pelican 1550's bolted to a frame. Large washers. They have been on there since 2008 and I have loaded them up and taken several tours and used them for commuting and grocery shopping(each case can hold 2 full bags). If the recovery gear is soft, ropes and straps and...
Personally I lean towards pre-computer gear, something I can fix in the boonies without needing a 'puter. Land Rover 300TDI matched to the aforementioned R380. I'd say 200TDI but they don't make new heads for them. So supply is limited.
I have to add that the one drawback for my OZ tent is packed size and weight. The length, 80" = 6'.6"= 2032mm means you probably are going to keep it outside the vehicle. If you do like I do it is up on the roof rack and my Land Rover is kinda tall at 82"= 6'.8" = 2082.8mm to the rack. So you...

And if you like videos;
Can some one tell me why they charge so much for camping? I mean I bring my "hotel room" with me and don't need electricity, food, just a small plot of land to park on. For $150 for 3 nights?
My feelings and I know I'll get flack for this, is you bought the wrong vehicle, as much as I like the new Bronco's they don't lend themselves to family camping trips. Unless you go with minimal gear like backpacking tents(yes 2, 1 for the parents, 1 for the kids) , sleeping pads, backpacking...
Did ORE go under? I can't access their website and Trek Overland no longer lists their parts. BG4x4 lists parts for nonLR vehicles. Maybe a web glitch?
Hey Paul! Don't knock the Black Oval! :sunglasses: Besides more power, a single windscreen, CV's, locking centers, roll up windows, computer controls, coil springs, they are identical...................Do you have a ONE TEN or a 110?
