So, no one asked what kind of driving you plan on doing. Are you doing fire roads? Most of the time stock can be fine, wet and muddy, rutted will be challenging. Going to Moab and runnning the trails? The trails are pretty much for 40" tires. People have been using larger and larger tires and...
If I didn't have a bucket load of rachet straps, I would buy some Matt's straps.

Excuse my ignorance, if they do a gear reduction at the axle, does that not lower your hiway speeds? I had a friend with a Volvo on portals and he could only get up to around 62mph. Is that why?
I agree with you if you keep the 33's(in reality who does?) the gain in under body clearance is a +. Not so sure of the less stress on the drivetrain though. Wouldn't it remain the same or even increase as one tried more technical obstacles?
For me it kinda gets back to what is Overlanding? Is...
My first thought is why? On an overlanding vehicle? I could see it on a rock crawler. If you are really going on a trip of the lifetime for perhaps weeks and months, it's just one more thing to go wrong. How will you get it fixed in the Congo? If you are going to Moab for a week and trailering...

Or the Great Divide Mountain Bike...
So, I'm a Land Rover guy. I bought my first one, a 64, in Aug 73, in Jan of 74 I traded it in on a new 73 at the dealership some 40 miles away. I was 22 and new nothing about cars having just got out of the USN. The next morning there was a huge oil slick under it. I called the dealer, who said...
That's a Pelican case I picked up off Craigslist with a factory padded divider, I guess for maybe camera stuff. I have that box filled with kitchen/fire stuff. The white bucket with the blue lid is my coffee set up, stove, Stanley kettle, 2 kinds of beans, cups, coffeemate, lighter, filters, etc....
I've been using Action Packers since the 70's. Only drawbacks are I can't sit on them and there is no dust seal. I bought some edge seal and that helped with the dust issue. I also use Pelican cases or Nanuk cases for the durability and sealing. But hey! a plastic bucket with a lid works too...
I'm kinda suprised no one addressed this. If you hit a bump and it goes crazy, something is loose in your suspension, bushings, connections, something. I hope you got it all sorted by now.
