Uhh... I can't tell if this is actually a brokedown need help request, or a request for free parts? Are you brokedown and stuck somewhere, or is this address/house yours or what? I thought this was for people stuck out on a trail needing a winch etc
Sorry, no jeep parts.
This thread and another, made me watch about 20 Youtube reviews yesterday for what radio to get for overlanding, and use the SEARCH for past threads. Here is what I came up with, may help:
1. GMRS seems to be most popular, and is what my local groups all use, so that is what I personally need...
Lol... ok. I'm thinking he was more interested in GMRS vs. HAM vs CB, but your entertainment choices while driving were still fun! That's how parched I am for overland posts lol! ;)
I read a ton of Amazon reviews... everything that starts out looking good, has 500 1star reviews warning they stop working in a week, or reads 20F wrong. Just want a cheap accurate thermometer to see temps inside and outside my truck camper! Thx
Nice, first person I've heard has the Pecron 3600, whichbreally sounds good. I Have their e1500LFP and 500W car charger, then I carry a 1280wh LFP, i.e. 12v 100Ah, that I use as an expansion battery for 2816 total Watt-hrs. I'm using a duxtop 9600LS induction, experimenting with it.
I went...
Lol... grubworm, you are completely mangling the definition of boondocking, now I see that it is YOU who is messing up and confusing this community! ;) This is like a guy talking about hunting, when he goes to the supermarket for meat, or picks a live lobster lol!
Boondocking == camping in the...
And in case it isn't clear to everyone, the word "boondock" means rough, remote, isolated... camping at a Campground with facilities, water ir electric is pretty much by definition, NOT BOONDOCKING ;)
You'll never get agreement from a ton of folks on definitions like this, everyone has their own interpretation. Mine is: boondocking is for longer stays, maybe up to the 14day limits. Also because of longer stays, tends to be associated with large RVs, VanLife folks, people living in their...
Yes, that is maybe true. They DO have smaller inverter microwaves, just 0.8 cu ft, about 2/3 the size, that are just the microwave function. HOWEVER, if you have gone electric, the unit is considerably smaller than [ toaster oven + coleman stove + propane bottle + pans + etc]
And there are a...
Toaster oven... one trick pony. I don't like any gear while camping, that only does one thing.
Massively better, IMO, is this 6 in 1 Inverter Microwave. Actually changes power useage at different cook levels, instead of just pulsing 100% power on/off like a conventional microwave. So can...
Also, use this Nat Forest interactive map to get phone #s and map ordering info for all Nat forests, gets you started well.

@2WheelRob I just added a bit, try lincoln nat forest. I'm looking for the map overlay now...
Ok. Download Avensa, the base map.
Then go to Store, in the map app, and search for Motor vehicle use map (MVUM), Guadalupe Ranger District. This map shows the dispersed camping all around...
You can dispersed camp in different ways in different government land. Each one has their own rules that you need to look up.
1. BLM land, allowed where NOT marked "no camping".
2. USFS national forests, allowed where shown on the forest maps. You can puck these up at ranger offices, which you...
ISSUE with Dometic Go 11L water Jug "Hydration system".
The 2.5" lid cap cracked, due to air pressure while sitting in hot garage. I should have opened the airflow valve a little, but didn't think of it. Most water containers can flex due to air inside heating up, but the Dometic jug is...
The start date doesn't show up in the orange box, just times. Nor is the actual date ever listed in details, just "thursday"...
This is a known bug I've seen and reported before, it would help if actual dates were listed in the details. Thanks!
Redarc bcdc is a good alternator charger.
However, I would not use an AGM as 2nd battery now. An LFP or LiFePO4 lithium battery will give you twice the Watt-hrs for the same weight, and with less hassle for charge-states and battery dying.
I would also consider putting 2nd battery and the bcdc...
Good test. Matt, look at the Pecron e1500LFP, I have one and love it, on sale this week for $599. 2200W inverter, boost to 4400w. I have the duxtop LS9600 burner, looks similar to grubworms above. I've been cooking on it for every meal for a couple months, using my Pecron, to learn the...
