Toaster oven... one trick pony. I don't like any gear while camping, that only does one thing.
Massively better, IMO, is this 6 in 1 Inverter Microwave. Actually changes power useage at different cook levels, instead of just pulsing 100% power on/off like a conventional microwave. So can be used at say 700W or 1800W easily, where a normal one is ALWAYS 1800W or full power no matter your setting. ALSO is an air fryer, ALSO a convection oven, ALSO can toast and broil.
I've done a lot of studies on camping/cooking power usage. Turns out that the precisely targeted ability if a microwave to reheat stuff, and use no more power than that, makes them more efficient than anything else I measure, from an overland perspective.
I mostly make premade meals and vacuum seal them for camping. Freeze, toss in fridge for a trip. I have heated them sousvide using 100% efficient electric kettle in a 1 gal cooler jug. And I have heated them in a skillet over a coleman liquid or propane stove. By far the most efficient and easiest is to microwave them though.
When I rolled out for a 3 day trip last weekend, I had these options all prepacked, sitting in my 12v fridge at 33f:
1.Sliced steak, green beans, rice
2. Pulled pork, carrots, sauteed potatoes w gravy
3. Salmon, green beans, rice
4. Brats, sauerkraut, peas
5. Ham, poached eggs, hash browns
6. Sausage, scrambled eggs, hash browns
Just toss one into microwave 2 min, 20 Watt-hrs, eat from bag. No dishes, no mess, gourmet.
